Anyone know any good car games?

Do you know of any good car games? I like racing games such as need for speed, grand turismo etc but I also like games that involve a lot of driving but aren't necessarily racing games. I was so disappointed when I found out test drive unlimited is only on 360 because I have a PS3... I'm not bothered if they aren't brand new either, just as long as the gameplay isn't antiquated.

Best racing game I've played so far would have to be between Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2. I haven't played any new Gran Turismos yet though (if there is any since 4?). I find the NFS series a bit iffy generally. HP2 was the first one I ever got and loved it. It's completely different to NFS: Underground or anything since. I don't rate newer NFS titles very highly although NFS: Most Wanted was good and the demo of the new one seems pretty cool too.

GTA is the other obvious one if you just want driving. Then there's the Driver series, all of which are great games really. Don't know if you'd be interested in The Getaway (there's two so far), the driving itself isn't great but I loved them. I also thought Stuntman was a great game but the demo for the second one didn't seem very good.

Going back to the PS1 days, I used to love Toca and V-Rally (2) :D.

I think Driver 2 was the best, where u could get into the baseball ground by buying a ticket and getting a secret car !

Driver: Parallel Lines? That was an epic game though! I loved the different cars from the two eras and the soundtrack was awesome.

I play grand theft auto, purely for the driving aspect. I love having a big city to drive around with my steering wheel, and killing people adds to the realism unfortunately.

The best car game on the market right now is Forza Motorsport 3. It is an Xbox 360 only game though. But it really is amazing!

DiRT if that's on the PS3, if not DiRT2 can't be much different.

GT5 Prologue if you want or just wait for the full game.

Fuel is another good Codemasters game if you can endure it.

Grid is probably the best full racing game on the PS3 at the moment but there could be more I haven't listed.

Ferrari Challenge if you wanna be restricted to Ferraris

F1 Championship if you want F1 games

Motorstorm 1 and 2 if you like them

That's all I know for PS3, I believe the PS3 has or will be getting a new wipeout game as well.

If you decided to grab a cheap xbox you would have Forza 2 & 3, PGR 3 & 4, DiRT 1 & 2, Fuel and Grid and probably more.

Can't say I was that into racing games this gen... until I took a gamble on a Logitech Drive FX (360) for cheap (less than £25 from play at one point).

Was fed up that it didn't handle very well with Burnout Paradise (feedback was pants, had to crash to feel something.. maybe the official wheel is better with that game), but Sega Rally, Midnight Club: LA, Forza 3 and PGR4 are fantastic with it. You can feel the jolt as you change gear and you can keep a pretty sweet line round a corner due to a increased distance from the centre (ie a released state when you let go of the stick it returns to centre) when compared to a stick.

I suppose what I am saying is that even a racer that gets an average score can be transformed with a wheel. Best of all, most of the games above can be had for £10 or less each!
