yeh ok i got the watercooling and its all on and stuff, but my temps are about 40 degrees, idle.....

I applied thermal paste correctly, spread it out evenly etc and think its tightened enough?

LOAD TEMPS PLZ.

http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=211 change it to 4 cores/threads and make sure you do millions of digits like 32. Watch temps while running it.

Yeah, load temps! But don't use Super PI. Use a real stress program. OCCT, Prime95, LinX, Intel Burn Test

Also, what processor and you using and what is it overclocked to?

Edit: Stephen posted your using a i7 :D What have you overclocked it to though?

Its stock atm..

Its stock atm..

Idle temps don't mean much. Post load. Doesn't matter if it's not OC'd yet.

running prime95 atm

Prime 95 ~ max temp was about 50, didn't change much (only done 15 tests)

Linx ~ max temp 62 degrees @ 256MB Memory 20 times

Temps are perfectly fine at stock for an i7. Anything up to about 85c load is considered acceptable on an i7.

mm

IntelBurnTest standard stress test is hitting about 79 degrees at 4Ghz.

That is bad for Liquid cooling i'd say.

I think Bear's i7 is about that and he's on air

Can I see a picture of how everything is set up in the loop?

yeh i know, lol

Should be well lower :S at 4.2Ghz i maxed at 85 degrees doing the 3dMark CPU test, lol

And that's at stock voltage or?

Just hope you don't say it's on auto :P

its on awto

Oh noes!

It's probably raised the voltage to something much higher than it should be. I'm not familiar with 45nm chip voltages so I don't know what's the highest safe setting. Voltage has a big effect on the temperature.

Edit: I think the max should be something like 1.35v for normal use. Take it off auto and set it to 1.25v and 3.8GHz and give that a go.

Btw, what is the VID of the chip?

gd question

coretemp dnt wna tell me.

also current voltage is 1.424 V

And that's on overclocked and auto? Hmm, thats really quite high for a 45nm chip. Probably best to take it off auto and use 1.35v

yeh auto :P

I'd discourge use of the intel burn test as it pushes your CPU beyond anything possible during normal operation (even full scale video encoding or 3D rendering). If you do use the results, take them with a pinch of salt.
