They've give me my hobbies, my values, shaped (slightly) the way I see the world, my sense of humour, my brain (they used to give me loads of books) etc etc. I think they influence us more than we give them credit for anyway.

Ditto. My parents and I both have pretty good brains, we're all into music and sometimes sport (depends what though, ew at something like PE at school) and just bits and bobs, infact phrases because I speak a bit of old English some of the time! But yeah I agree with Mike, as we live with them a lot of the time we are bound to be influenced by them.

ooh my dad taught me men could be heartless (def where i got that from:rolleyes:), rest of his family were downright racist so can't say much about that ;)
my mum really taught me to keep my head held high when i was having a tough time + my brothers have shown through their experiences to really go for what i want instead of taking the easy options and not giving it your all, they influenced me by their experiences not their words :8
haven't really thought about it but yup..

I'm polite, well spoken, behaved and know when enough is enough. I like to think all of that is due to my family and upbringing. I'm so glad I'm not one of those idiotic kids out there every night causing trouble and comitting crimes. I'll always be eternally grateful to my parents. Although I wish they introduced me to the piano or some kind of instrument when I was young so I'd be able to play it really good now. Must be nice to be able to create music.

Well my dad influenced me quite alot, i want to be a bit like him, in some ways i want to be identical and in other areas i want to be completely different. I think after he died i put my life into perspective and everything about me changed, and if you knew me you could tell the huge change. My step-dad influences my humour completely, we're identical in our funnyz. And my mum, well my mum is my mum, i wouldn't be able to cope without her.

I think they've had a huge impact on mine. If I can be as half as good of a Dad than my Dad has been then I'll be wicked. However, I've learnt from both of them the importance of doing well at school (because they didn't) and I've learnt from their mistakes too.

Polite, well behaved, good morals and everything. - From my mum.
I'm thankfully nothing like my Dad. He's thick as ****, and his side of the family are so stuck up and don't really care about anything apart from money.

That is one of the biggest regrets by older people; not learning to play an instrument when they were younger. Thankfully my parents and family encouraged me to continue music lessons. I've always recieved encouragement from my family and I couldn't wish for a better one.

While I am eternally grateful for their love, money and care, I cannot fault that. When it comes to other things I don't think they gave me the right influence, without going into details I don't really like the person they "wanted me to be" and tried to make me, in that respect I sort of broke the mould.

My dad tried to influence us to start playing instruments (he got hold of a keyboard and a couple of old guitars), but to be honest they couldn't afford to get us lessons. I think my dad hoped we would try and teach ourselves. My brother did get keyboard lessons for a bit but yeah.

I don't drink because my dad is an alcoholic and mum constantly fighting with every boyfriend she decided to get has given me depression. Hate to sound ungrateful but thats what sticks in my head

very much the same as me, but in some ways i am what they wanted. everyone in my family has a streak of selfishness. even though my family is not split up by divorce or marriage and we live in the same house, i'm never really in contact with my parents/sister for any more than an hour a day.
my dad has made me racist 'cos he's a leader in the bnp :(

Strong work ethic and tendancy to just 'get on with it'. That and a jokey sense of humour from my dad :)
garry's taught me to strive harder for a better life xx
