Basically we were doing oral coursework (for some reason, it was meant to be written). Basically she was outside with someone and like 3 people whispered and we "disturbed" her then she warned us that she'll put us a grade down if were not quiet. Then there was more noise (but not much, whispers again) and then she came in and said she knew who was talking but she "can't be certain" and is deducting everyones marks. My question is can she do it in this situation?
Oh yer it was English.

yes, i think so. your supposed to be quiet during examinations. same goes for written exams, so if you started to talk during them, you'd be told to stop talking and then kicked out for it.

Does seem a bit harsh, but exams are extremely strict. You could appeal, you could get your marks back or a big fat no. Worth a try.

Yeah, I think she's just trying to teach you the concequences. Like said above, if your in an actual exam and you are doing anything to disturb people or disrupt the exam then you will either be kicked out of the test or have your paper ripped up and given a fail. So yeah, my advice is just behave :)
She probably could but highly doubt she would

Technically those speaking weren't in the exam, we were in class doing normal work whilst someone was delivering the coursework.
& yes she would, she's a female dog, looks like one too.

Well there are times when you need to shut the **** up, this was apparently one of those times.
I never realise that until afterwards either (if ever) so I'm not saying I'm any better :P
yeah you're lucky she just didn't rip up all your exam papers. You were warned and you continued? Are you really stupid LOL you've been taking exams for how many years. it's best to be on the safe side in things like this.

If it's GCSE then yes, as those pieces of coursework are called Speaking & Listening.
You get marked for how you respond to other people's work :)

It wasn't listening, they done it in the hall. It's basically written coursework which you have to speak because the course changes next year so we don't do speaking and listening or something like that.

Was it coursework or was it an exam? You called it coursework yet you describe what sounds like an exam...

It was coursework which had to be said to her but when you weren't saying yours you didn't have to listen. It was meant to be written but were speaking it for some reason.

She should have told you of the consequences before the examination began. She also shouldn't have left you alone in the room without supervision.
She took it in her own accord to leave the room, however, no one should talk in an examination but she would know herself that if she left the room someone would start talking everyone does. Also, I don't think it was fair that the whole class got deducted points, something like that could decide whever you get a D or a C and could have consequences on you in the future.
So overall, even though it was wrong to speak during the exam, she shouldn't have left the room.
However, with coursework, why weren't you allowed to speak? I know it's still wrong to speak when someone is reading but she shouldn't threaten you with points deducation.

I think she may have been using it as a reason to get you all to keep quiet to be honest.

It was most likely her time of the month, can't see a teacher doing that really - its most likely an empty threat.

Teachers are simply not strict enough so good on her if she does follow through. She gets my applaud for one.
