The Potato.
For many years it has been a side on our plates, or the entire meal.
The potato was first introduced to Europe by Spain in 1536, and belongs to the Solanaceae Family.
The first potatoes were grown in Peru in South America.
Fascinating!
Ok I'll be honest I made half of that up and I want you to do the same in this competion.
Find a boring item (it could be a vegetable, a piece of furniture or just an old hankey)
describe the item as much as you can with interesting information (feel free to make it up) and convince me you know everything about it in less than three sentences!

Did you know that if you ate Cabbage each day for a month, you would lose at least 10% of your weight (baring in mind that you shout have a normal diet). This happens because the cabbage reacts with the waters in your body, and as cabbage is 90% water, this produces more water meaning that you lose more wasted products in excretion.

Tables were first invented in 370BC by a man named Alanias Wake. Alanias Wake was a craftsman and built something which was originally meant to be used as a toilet, subjects would come and sit on the object and just do their business on it, and because it held objects so well, and it was easy to remove objects, you could just clean the table easily. According the the Greek Mythologer, Richard Caine, Alanias Wake was fascinated in many things, and animals were one of them, he especially loved four-legged animals and he's prototype for the table consisted of a stuffed lion which people would simply just sit on and then do their business on, Julius Caesar was the first roman emperor to ever use the table and he replaced it from the conventional hole in the ground. However, this time instead of using wooden tables, as they had caused many injuries with the people who were using them, however they were very cheap, Julius Caesar ordered Alanias Wake's great great great grandson to build him one out of Marble, his name was Marcus Porcius Cato Uticensis or better known as Cato the Younger. Marcus has continued his great great great grandfather's work, which was becoming worldly recognised and one of the most prominent inventions of the time. Cato the Younger created the marble table for Julius Caesar, and named it 'the table' as formerly the table had been called aēdēs, which now translates to unpleasant, the word table derives from the Ancient Greek taabeē, which meant, four legged creature, as originally it was thought that the table was a four legged machine. The original table can still be seen at the Palazzo Corsini in Rome, and is thought to of taken 7 years to make. The Prototype table is still in use to this day, and the President of Italy, Silvio Burlosconi has the astonishing artefact in his private quarters in the Palazzo Farnese in Rome.

Did you know that a mushroom have spots because they have little warriors who live on them?
In 37000 BC there were men who were warriors and they used to wear mushroom shaped helmets so they carved the mushroom plants to look like there helmets.
The green mushroom (only grown in the heart of Eqpyt) are so vile because they used special carving knives which they had to put up a dead pigs nose to make holy enough to eat.

Did you know... ?
+The broccoli was founded by Dr Broc Ollison of the National Iced Gems Foundation in 1539.
+Little is known about this extra-ordinary vegatable, exept the fact the broccoli istelf has not always been green - In fact, it was absolutely colourless!
+It is said that broccoli turned green due to over appeal, "what" you may say, well as broccoli became the new craze of the 1540's, the vegetable decided it would rather be noticed - that's right - the broccoli is ALIVE and has decided to change its colour from green once again, henseforth...

Beans were first found in 1329 by Mr Bean in France. They have been sitting on the edge of our dinner plates for many years. They come in a variety of colours; Green, orange, pink, blue etc.
In 1578 a man called Sir Beanalot was eating a bean, and he didnt realise that the end of the plant was still on it (he was blind) so he swallowed it. The next day he started puking up beans, but then he sadly died. This is why people encourage blind people not to eat beans.

Eraser
Erasers are made from synthetic (fake) rubber.
On March 30, 1858, Hymen Lipman of Philadelphia, USA, received the first patent for attaching an eraser to the end of a pencil.
Prior to the invention of the rubber eraser, tablets of wax were used to erase lead/charcoal marks from paper.

Bouncy Ball
The bouncy ball was invented by Alfred L. Jalley who lived in Lithuania in 1965. It is made with hydrated Silica, zinc oxide, stearic acid and charcole. They can range in size from microscopic to 10ft tall 10ft wide. The world record for bouncy ball bounces is 9ft (10cm by 10cm). This was done by Xashu Cixchen from Korea in 1982, Xashu Cixchen has many world records including balancing a bouncy ball on his nose for 24 hours. In 1995, bouncy balls were made to a new level and no longer just full of air inside. They were now made unbreakable but easily got lost. Bouncy balls have also been made for animals such as dogs, cats, ducks and even monkeys.
Good luck believing it. It is true ;) ;)

The Couch. It's more than just a Couch, it's also known as a sofa. Many couch potatoes sit on this furniture to watch Television, Snooze, Pick for change, Bounce and many more exciting things. Jay Wellington Couch invented the Sofa in 1895 (I guess some people were bored of sitting on the uncomfortable floor), after making it there were many uses for it. Almost every home in the world has one of these remarkable devices, which must mean it is very, very popular. I love jumping up and down on them, I think everyone does. It's the joy of being in the air from where the couch bounces you. I think sofas are the most interesting thing ever. Thanks. ;)

A tea bag is a small, porous paper (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filter_paper), silk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silk) or plastic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plastic) sealed bag containing tea leaves (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea_leaf) for brewing tea (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea). The bag contains the tea leaves while the tea is brewed, making it easier to dispose of the leaves, and performing the same function as a tea infuser (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea_infuser). Some tea bags have an attached piece of string (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/String) with a paper label to the top that assists in removing the bag while also identifying the variety of tea.
In countries where the use of loose tea leaves is more prevalent, the term tea bag is commonly used to describe a paper (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paper) or foil (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foil_%28chemistry%29) wrapper packaging for loose leaves. They are usually square or rectangular envelopes with the brand name and flavour printed on them, as well as interesting decorative patterns.
