Yeah those two above are almost certain to happen.

Forgot about this thread! Wolves yesterday signed Mouyokolo from Hull for 2.5m, Hull fans apparently rate the defender very highly so should be a good signing for our shaky defence. Our local NewsPaper is also reporting that tomorrow we will seal the signing of Stephen Hunt from Hull for a cut down price of £3M, because he's injured until November.

Wolves are the highest spenders in the league so far LMAO.

Joe Cole:

"The next contract I sign will be a footballing decision. I want to play in a more central position. I want a manager who has faith in me and I’m talking about club football here."

Justifying a wage cut?

Would make sense seeing that on MOTD the other day Harry was hinting that he'd play a 5 man midfield next season. Wenger or Redknapp..? you decide...

Wenger all the way ;) He'd have faith with him anyway. If Wenger has anything, it's faith with his own players. And we play 3 midfielders that are all quite central so he'd fit in well. Saying that, if Fabregas stays, he wouldn't start.

Right positional buy, but wrong person to buy. I think he's highly overrated and his price is inflated so much. Silva would have been such a better buy.

I can't tell what they'll play next season. Maybe..

--------------- Casillas ---------------
Maicon - Ramos - Pepe - Kolarov
----------- Lass - Alonso -----------
---- Ronaldo - Kaka - Di Maria ----
--------------- Higuain ---------------

I guess that could happen when/if they sign Maicon. If not shift Ramos over and put in Albiol. Then VdV, Benzema as super subs.

Ahhh. Suppose it makes sense when you say that. United should go for a swap + cash deal Vidic for Ramos. >: D But that'd mean their full-backs would be awesome, but shocking CBs. Ferdinand and Evans/O'Shea. OOH. That strikes fear in my heart.

Hm.. that's a fair bit for them two. I don't understand that either. I thought that Kjaers buy out clause is 12m Euros. So they value Cavani at 23m? Not worth near that.

Richards. Corluka is suspect sometimes but I quite like him. As is BAE but the way Harry has been going on it looks like Bale will be the left back.

Browney
28-06-2010, 08:08 PM
I suppose if you play

Gomez
Corluka - King - Dawson - Bale
Lennon - Palacios - Kranjcar - Modric
Defoe - Crouch

A full-back isn't a priority (maybe a RB) but if you play

Gomez
Corluka - King - Dawson - Ekotto
Lennon - Modric - Palacios - Bale
Crouch - Defoe

Then yeah I suppose 2 full backs would be priority. In that formation your midfield looks SOLID. I've said it before, your second string is possibly better than our first. Strikers aren't fantastic but hey.

Walker, Kaboul, Corluka, Hutton... too many right backs! Hutton can go though, scumbag. Spurs could play a formation similar to Brazil's.

-------Huddlestone - Sandro/Palacios
---Lennon----- Modric----- Bale----
---------------Good striker--------------

Or Bale at LB and Modric on the left and (possibly) Cole in the middle. I feel sorry for Kranjcar though, hope he doesn't get left on the bench.

CHA!NGANG
28-06-2010, 08:21 PM

also said on Talksport that:
he's looking at Uruguay's front 3 but Forlan's wages may be a problem,
he wants Bale to play at left back,
if Woodgate isn't fit then it could be the end of his career,
England players he spoke to weren't happy with the formation,

Barcelona don't need Torres... at all. Although if they go for him then really they shouldn't buy Fabregas as they wont have any money and they wont have anywhere to play him.

from RAWK:

If the money situation is as is public (£100M due..) AND the Owners haven't sold AND the Bank Force the sale, but no one comes in..

Then I think we in all liklihood would be looking at getting shot of Torres, Gerrard and Mascherano. There are interested parties in all three and you'd think the money raised would be around the £100M mark for all three.

There are also going to be players that just don't fit or seem to be already gone (Riera and Benayoun)

Then there are going to be some that might not want to stay due to no 'Champions' League football? Too scared to even think about this list.

CHA!NGANG
02-07-2010, 08:19 PM
Hm..

Well the only teams I think that Torres will go to are Inter, Juventus, AM, or Barca. Juventus have no CL football and AM have no money and it would be a step in the wrong direction.

It surprises me that Inter aren't linked much. I'd say a striker and midfield player were the two main points they need to improve and Mascherano and Torres would fill them perfectly, and Benitez could help that.

I can't see how Barca will lineup next year. With Torres I guess Villa can go LW and Torres down the middle and Ibra will be benched:

Messi - Torres - Villa

With Fabregas and no Torres:

-- Fabregas - Xavi --
Messi - Villa - Iniesta

With Ibra on the bench.

With both Torres and Fabregas, I have no idea how that will work.

Either way, Ibra is benched.

JackBuddy
02-07-2010, 08:22 PM

Which could mean that the gossip section of the BBC is true, maybe Spurs have bid £25m for him ;)

CHA!NGANG
02-07-2010, 08:24 PM
Lol yeah I saw that. I don't think they'll let him go for that. They spend over double that getting him there a year ago.

Liverpool should ask for Ibra and £10-20 Million for Torres.

Cole, Liverpool now in too, offering him money he wants and promised starts but he doesn't want to go, due to Gerrard and Torres both 90% certain to leave. He has a straight decision between us, and THEM!!!!! Prefers us but been offered huge signing on and wages he wants. Our wages are lower than he wants but same signing on. So would imagine its the Arry factor or extra wages which we determine his choice. Oh and that he has a gentle agreement with a certain frenchie from before the WC that he would sign after WC.

He'll get a few games this season for his versatility. Turner's out for the first game of the season so he could play then, and we look set to play Richardson at LB. If ever there's any shortage of players in midfield, Bruce likes to bring Richardson into midfield, and Ferdinand can fill in at LB.

Any player with common sense would join City. It's obvious they're going to be challenging for the title next season, and are very likely to get into the CL. Plus the huge wage package.

It's a no brainer for most players, If I were a pro I know I'd join City. :/

Well it depends though. If you know you aren't going to get constant football there's no point. Take Adebayor. There's talk now of him going on loan or leaving the club after 1 season to make way for new players. Same goes for Lescott and Bridge and several other players.

Before the new rules come in, City have to sell 12 players and i'd happily take Kompany, De Jong, Richards.

When do the 25 man squads get announced, do we know? Because once City put Ireland/Onouha/Michael Johnson in the reserves there's going to be an absolute cluster****.

Have to be submitted by September 1st so a day after the transfer window shuts.

Been on holiday, Joe Cole was wrong when he said his move would be 'for footballing reasons'. He still wanted to join us, stay in London and work with Harry, so says Harry even after he signed for Liverpool. Initially Arsenal offered a 2 year contract worth £80 a week, Spurs 3 year for £70 then Liverpool came in with £95 a week on a four year contract. Can't see him getting his wish and playing a central position at Liverpool either.

In other news, Spurs are discussing financials with V Bremen re: Ozil (from a reliable itk). Not sure I can see him wanting to join us though. United are supposedly favourites. Suarez has signalled his intent at joining Spurs/Man U but silly money is apparently being quoted. If we don't get him Turan is a possibility. Ajax have bought Mido and another striker which could signal his departure. Huntelaar -> Liverpool is also apparently being discussed.

Also trying to get Young from Villa, but depends on the Milner situation. Jenas, Keane and/or Bentley could be involved in the transfer too. City pulled out of the Richards deal too just as everything was agreed.

Update on Spurs, because I know you all care. We are in for 2 black, foreign players (they're the only clues that a reliable itk would give).

Swap/exchange deals are likely, which could bring light to the GDS-Huntelaar and Young-Keane, Jenas and/or Bentley rumours. Parker wants to join us, Richards deal could drag on.

City can pay higher wages and the potential of the club and ambition of the club is there for all to see. I don't think Levy wants to splash out high wages and transfer fees on players only for us to fail to qualify. Good and bad depending on how you look at it. It's difficult because some clubs (like Ajax) are waiting to see if City are interested in players (like Suarez) before considering selling him elsewhere because they think can sqeeze a higher fee out of City. The sooner Milner is sold the sooner the transfer window will begin for everyone else.

Levy is a hard nosed jew, therefore very shrude with money- works both ways for us. We desperately need a decent striker... as the days go by Suarez/Huntelaar/Falcao etc are fading away.

Harry has supposedly drawn up two lists of transfer targets, one if we don't qualify and one if we do. Not sure I believe that anyway, but a number of players we have enquired about are only interested in joining if we are 100% in the CL.

Media spouting a load of crap, suggesting the fees for the Milner deal,

£18.5m + Ireland
£20m + Ireland
£25m + Ireland
£27.5m + Ireland

Milner is in Manchester and Ireland is in Brum according to some Villa & City ITKs

As it stands:

AV have offered terms to SI. SI has tentatively agreed to these, however he is looking to MCFC to make up the shortfall. This shortfall is in excess of £1m per year. MCFC have agreed to meet the shortfall for 1 year, not the full 3 years of the contract on offer. Another stumbling block on this is MCFC's insistence that any agreement to "top up" SI's wages be terminated if AV qualify for the CL in the period of the contract.

However, SI's agent is very very keen for this deal to happen. But anybody who knows him won't be surprised in the least to hear that he wants it done at a high value to himself.

Villa will undoubtedly sign Keane from Spurs once this deal happens imo

Craig Bellamy : I'll start here because its all over the press now anyway. Harry really wants Bellamy and Bellamy does want to come to Spurs, But Man City are doing an awful lot of ignoring Tottenham at the moment. I think he is available for loan to pretty much everyone, bar us. In fact from what Harry has been told by Bellamy's people, Citeh are even prepared to subsidise his wages. As it stands any deals with Citeh are highly unlikely to be done before 31st August if at all. Might be he ends up somewhere like Bolton or Everton.

Micah Richards : we agreed everything with club and player in principle a long time ago, but deal was put on hold. And as above the case is now, Man Citeh not really playing ball with us. He is likely to get into the 25 man squad there though, with players like Onouha more likely to leave. This might have to wait until next year I think.

Gallas : Its true!!! to an extent, anyway. We have had conversations regarding money and it might be that is as far as it goes. Harry likes him though.

Crouch : Player has the full support of everyone at the club. He is not available for transfer, unless someone offers silly money. But that is the case with pretty much everyone. Harry did give him a bollocking mind!

Falcao : I started this one.....and I'm ending this one. Unless harry is playing his cards close to his chest, which is not unheard of. This is old news. Sorry everyone

Cardozo : We have watched him and Harry does like him, but we are far apart on our valuation, so this one hasnt really gone any further than the sounding out stage.

Hunterlaar : We are told that he could be available, for a loan ----> permanent deal. but there are hurdles to cross on this and for the time being we have hit a stalemate. Harry does like him a lot, but at the moment we havnt really got the room for him anyway. I think we would need to sell at least one of the 2 strikers that divide us all. Keano or Pav!

Luis Fabiano : This is the Deal that everyone is trying to do. Its the hardest of the lot finacially but we are trying. Harry thinks its going to be really tough though. I think we are prepared to offer some serious money on this as long as the player shows enough willing to play for us. Even then it depends an awful lot on player sales and a sensible wage.

Others : Looks like we have turned away from deals for Remy (unless Nice accept an installment plan based on appearances and performance). Camoranesi, was offered to us and we did look at it. but not likely now.

Thats your lot folks... sorry there isnt anything on Young or Turan or anyone else....but I get what I get

Please, not Gallas.

Milner transfer saga has finally ended

James Milner's protracted transfer from Aston Villa to Manchester City is finally set to go through on Thursday after the two clubs agreed a package worth about £26m.

Stephen Ireland – whose agent today held talks with the Villa chief executive, Paul Faulkner – will sign for Villa as part of the deal, providing he reaches a settlement with City over the remainder of his contract. Discussions will take place between Ireland's representative and City's hierarchy tomorrow morning.

Ireland has been valued at £10m, meaning that Villa will receive a further £16m in cash in addition to the former Republic of Ireland midfielder. Should Ireland pull out of the transfer – there is no indication that is likely to happen at the moment despite Martin O'Neill's resignation yesterday – Milner will move to Eastlands in a straight cash deal. Both players have been pencilled in for medicals at their respective new clubs on Thursday and could make their debuts at the weekend.

The latest development will come as a relief to all parties involved. The Guardian revealed City's interest in Milner almost four months ago but negotiations between the two clubs have dragged on. City tabled a £20m bid in May that was flatly rejected, with Villa holding out for closer to £30m for a player who cost £12m two years ago. In the end Villa agreed to lower their demands although many of the club's supporters will feel pleased by the final outcome.

Ireland's inclusion as a makeweight in the transfer was thrown into doubt when O'Neill unexpectedly quit, but the talks that had been agreed before that development went ahead as planned. The 23-year-old, who was voted City's player of the year at the end of the 2008-09 season, appears to have accepted that he has no future with Roberto Mancini in charge. Having signed a lucrative five-year contract with City little more than 12 months ago, he will hope to negotiate a sizeable settlement.

He looks class, but to say he has potential to be world class from a few pre-season games and a couple WC games is a bit pre-mature to me. He could flop. I'd give it a year before it's fair to cast judgement properly.

Think it's a good deal for both clubs? I think Milner will add that little bit more to us.

Funny looking back to this from February. I outlined out two top targets were Richards and Young. Have still remained the same throughout the year and are now. Unfortunately at this point in time, neither are close at all. We have not agreed terms with either club, we've held many talks with agents and the clubs, but we are reluctant to pay over the odds on wages or tranfer fees.
I know many of you have read conflicting reports in the media and from other boards, but assure you neither are close to being done.
Unless these go through last minute- which with Spurs, I certainly wouldn't rule it out, they are unlikely unless we change our stance or some other tranfer activity happens in the meantime.
Prepare for a busy last few days of the window....I know I am.

POTL

Looks like we lost to Marseille in signing Fabiano. What a **** window this is! Why is Levy willing to pay 15m for Bentley and 16m for Darren Bent when we were trying to reach the champions league, when now we have qualified he 'isn't prepared to pay over the odds for players' (which is hard in this inflated market). Unless we actually sign someone else my hopes for the season are diminishing.

And? He'll be picking up a wage at Villa? It's not like he's being made redundant.
He has to take a pay cut to join Villa so he'll get around 60k a week from Villa, but he wants the 2 million from Man City to cover the money he's going to lose out on. Man City will have to pay him as it is in the interest of Man City, Villa, Milner and Ireland. Unless they pay the 30 million straight for Milner. He's only asking for a 2 million pay off, i bet the sheik has toilet sets that are worth more than that :S

o'neill left because he wasn't willing to help the club resolve its wages issue, therefore randy lerner wouldn't let him buy anyone else.
he said once o'neill frees up some money on the wage bill he could buy players, he didnt like that so he quit.
milners going yes, ashley young wants to sign a new contract?
heskey was an o'neill favourite thats why he featured so much, i doubt our next manager would play him ahead of agbonlahor or carew tbh, and if he gets sold it frees up about £60k of the wage bill so it's all good

JackBuddy

Bellamy, Richards, Ireland, SWP, None happening. City def not playing ball, cant stand us from Corluka deal, beating them to champs league, do not want to strengthen us

Gallas, being worked on hard to get done asap

Young, still arrys choice (once knew Bellamy was a no go) being worked on, issues with fee and villa, personal terms would not be a prob, he wants to come. Still trying but conscious of when done/being cup tied and price.

Capel, Been offered to us, (attractive to us if we cannot get Young) available at a good price we think, and if it helps another deal go through!! then we may just end up with him, however there is again an atmosphere with the Sevilla board due to Ramos saga and deals are extra tricky with them

Fabiano, Its true, DL working extra hard. DL in Seville as of last night, its complicated due to wages, Sevillas dislike of us and DL, Capel being almost pushed in as part of the deal.

Remy, Back up for Fabiano deal. Agreed in principal for 10m deal plus add ons. Told them will are waiting CL qualification, but is really to see what happens with Fabiano

Khumalo, been and gone. Didnt impress in trial

Jenas, Has option of Juve, Fiorentina, Liverpool and Fulham also interested in loan deal, but Jenas has heart on going to Italy, this also suits us.

Hutton, Cannot agree fee as yet with Birmingham, still ongoing, Newcastle interested too.

Bentley, Hughes a big fan, would like him. Just whether Fulham can afford it. No one else interested.

O'Hara, will be off to West Ham once fit.

Pav, being offered about by agent (we secretly ok with this). Marseille did enquire but put off by price. He will be the striker to leave.

Keane, staying, realises will get fair share of games. However, he has said this before but then when doesnt start for a few, asks to leave.

Interesting. Please, Fabiano.

The transfer window should finally begin now that the Milner saga is over. Jenas to Juventus? AHAHAHAH

Really trying for Young at the moment and trying to get Keane off there and Jenas if possible.

Muntari- Not confirmed as of yet, but getting closer

Hutton, Naughton both due to leave. Offer from Newcastle for Keane, would rather use him in the Ash Young deal.

Villa ITK who spoke to Randy Lerner at the game yesterday says there will be no transfers going in or out, until a permanent manager is in place.
But Kevin MacDonald said today to the press that there has been no approach for Young from Tottenham.
I would guess he would play off the striker for spuds if he goes there, or be in a rotation with Bale and Lennon.
