Binmen have been threatened with the sack if they fly England flags on their wagons during the World Cup.
Drivers in Liverpool were ordered to sign contracts forbidding the St George’s Cross due to apparent ‘health and safety’ risks.

You may have seen all that bull before about not being able to wear your shirts in pubs and that was indeed blown up... it was just that the police advised pubs to have dress codes.

Anyway, I think this is stupid... what harm is the flag? It also says taxi drivers & truck drivers aren't allowed to have stickers in their cars/cabs... where I live most of the taxis are driven by Asians and a lot of them have "ALLAH something or other" and religious symbols stuck on the back windows 'obscuring their view', so how come the England flag is not allowed? Maybe we're to scared to tell the Islamic folk to take down their stickers because then we'd be 'racist'... pffft. Double standards?

Just yesterday I had an exam and two people I know were told to take off their hats. A third person, wearing an Islamic hat was allowed to keep his on... now yeah, maybe if he 'has' to then he can, but if you're letting 1 person wear their hat then why not the others?

Sigh... anyway all this banning of flags etc. is causing more problems! There'd be much less trouble if they left them.

Times like these I do not feel proud to be British... I'd rather be Russian or something.

I think if it's your property you should be allowed to display a flag. On my local news this story came up, and I applaud this guy for painting his house.

they probably aren't nazis as nazis were nationalists.

erm seriously idc about this flag thing. i personally think the flags on the cars look seriously tacky and do have an odd negative (overly-nationalist) stigma attached to them. i also think that they might be a bit dangerous if someone was to be hit by a car with them on, but i don't see the problem of putting england flag stickers on cars etc.

in other countries like sweden and france, the french and swedish flags are flown everywhere by people and government institutions and because of this it seems less racist. Because of the lack of usage of the flag in this country it has been hijacked by the far-right and racists.

I think you know what I mean perfectly well - these people do not like any opinion that differs to their own and thus think it should be banned under the banner of health and safety or political correctness is the guise of 'it is racist to fly your own flag' (generally stemming from this case). The problem is not the government not using it, the problem is this type of case which just turns people to the extremes.

It is as per usual, the majority vs the zealot minority.

Meh, their property they can do what they like. It's kinda obvious that the flag is the English flag, and we happen to be in England, so there should be no harm seeing as all nationals should be aware of this tiny little factoid.

If you want to vandalise your own property with St. George's cross, then so be it. I don't ask Undertaker to stop putting up psoters of Brent Corrigan in his bedroom because it displeases me.

I fail to see how a flag ABOVE your car can obscure your view. If they're talking about the view of others then I fail to see how a flag ABOVE a truck cab can obscure anybody else's view.

There is a house by my old primary school which is always painted during big football events. Last time I saw it was during the 2004 Euros I think, when it was painted like the front of David Beckham's shirt :P

A local pub is having the outside and inside painted red and white for our flag. Maybe this is where they got the idea from :)

But on topic with the thread, if people live in our country they should respect our traditions and be tolerant of them, we are tolerant towards their traditions and their beliefs, just because it is now religion does not mean it is not important. It's football for goodness sake, during the first world war, on Christmas day, the war was stopped. During this day, Britain and Germany played a friendly game of football! If that doesn't say something about peace and equality of all men no matter what tongue, race, heritage and background, then I don't know what does!

May sound racist (I'm not actually at all racist lol..) if they dislike our cultures and traditions, they need to pack up and leave, it would sure save our gov't some money too! :/

They knew what they were signing up to when they migrated over here or however they entered our country.

I bet Italty, France, Brazil and the other football teams aren't going through this crap...
Take a 30 second drive down a road in ANY part of the USA and you will be bombarded with patriotic flags. Absolute tosh.

That's stupid. Fair enough if you were in England flying a huge Scottish flag or vice versa but it's YOUR country and YOU should be allowed to celebrate that.

Jesus christ who the hell spreads this ******** around. You need to stop paying attention to the Facebook groups full of crap. Think about what you just said - WHY would they even consider that, and if they ever did do it there would be MASS UPROAR.

I got a load of bollocking on ClubHabbo forum for saying that the football shirt ban was nothing to do with hooligans in pubs. I think this now proves my point that its not to "offend" immigrants.

Exactly, I don't expect them to change their culture and traditions such as arranged marriages etc, even though I disagree with them. It's all about respecting them. How do they expect us to show respect to them when they don't show any respect to us or our country? They aren't offended by our benefits though are they?

It's sad people are scared of sounding racist when they actually make good points. The UK is a laughing stock anyway, maybe I should become a chinese citizen and laugh as the world is taken by storm in 50 years time.
