View Full Version : Questions/Queries about Habbox

I've been thinking, whenever I have something to ask about the forum my automatic instinct is to post it in Habbox Feedback (like a thread I made earlier). I understand how this is incorrect and therefore the thread was moved to Questions/Queries about Habbox, so I posted my next one in the correct location. However, so many times I see threads on the New Posts list which contain various questions from members that I may happen to know the answer to but when I go to reply, I realise that it is in Questions/Queries about Habbox and therefore I am unable to.

My thought is that it would be more beneficial to the forum to *either* allow members to reply to threads in Questions/Queries about Habbox and it's various department-specific subsections or simply merge this section and Habbox Feedback into the same thing. To be fair, I would say a substantial amount of threads that are left in the feedback forum are in fact questions or queries anyway - I would even go so far as to suggest that there are possibly more threads of this nature than actual pure 'I like Habbox' feedback.

Not only would it benefit the members who I see posting questions but when I'm posting my own, the reason I tend to go for the feedback forum rather than questions/comments is because you're more likely to get a quicker response. I'm not saying staff are slow to respond, but by definition it is far more productive to throw a question at thousands of potential respondents who may or may not be able to help rather than just a small handful of specialists. Half the time you may ask a question while at the same time hoping for the views of other members on the topic but still expecting an overall answer from the appropriate member of staff, so you won't want to post it somewhere that doesn't allow members to respond.

So, did any of that make sense? :P

I think that merging them or opening them up to members is a bad idea. When you ask a question it's normally very specific in order to be moved there, and that department gives you a straight up answer (or to the best of their ability). I'm sure you've seen how wildly off-topic threads in feedback can get, to someone just wanting an answer I think it would get very frustrating.

I suppose you're right in some cases, but the department would obviously still be able to reply and unhelpful posts would probably be pointless or rule-breaking in some way anyway so they would just be dealt with as normal.

The point of the questions forum is to get a direct response from a member of staff as soon as possible, we feel very strongly about separating "Questions" and "feedback" which is why we have created these forums, and eventually people may start posting in the right forums - as we really want this forum solely for ideas and feedback.

I think it's good that only staff can reply to questions and I've never seen anybody waiting a long time for a reply, it certainly tests our staffs knowledge and keeps them on their toes.

Fair enough. Getting people to post in the right forums is the key then because as it is, it's a really innocent mistake to make. For example when my thread was moved before I didn't even realise at first (I viewed it via New Posts). I realise there's no PM or even moderator edit because it's not like a major rule-break but at the same time I almost did the exact same thing again with my other thread but I realised just in time.

Kinda just sounds like I'm moaning about dead minor stuff now so I'll shurrup :P

Moderators would usually leave you a visitor message but I'll own up now, sometimes if I move a thread there I simply just post a reply and I know Garion does this too - so we are the bad guys here :( - will make sure we don't do this from now on :P

To be honest if I know something out of a question in those forums, I'll just PM the person and generally they're thankful that I've helped before the staff. Don't see any need to be able to post in the forums when you can PM :D

Yeah that was me, but in fact I normally do drop people a VM but I moved it and then my internet messed up so I thought I hadn't moved it, and then had to go off and do something else so I thought I'd leave it for a Moderator or whoever finds it next. Turned out it had moved despite the internet muck up! Sorry about that. It is always supposed to happen when a thread is moved.

GOD GARION! I know people are always complaining about over-moderation so it seems kind of stupid that I even brought it up but yeah fankyoooo and nice announcement Oli. :)

I'll be honest, once I realise I can't reply I just leave the thread - PMing is too much effort. I KNOW THAT'S MEAN. SORRY :(

I WAS GONNA POST IN THAT TOO LOL WITH A WELL GOOD ANSWER!!!
I was gonna say that if a thread you've posted in is moved to Spam (or anywhere with no post counts) then it reverts the post count you got from posting in that thread. At least I'm sure that happened to me a while back (or it might have been the other way round so I gained rep but whatever same thing).

I'm blates right
