Comedian James Corden and Sir Patrick Stewart became involved in a bizarre on-stage spat at the Glamour Awards on Tuesday.
Sir Patrick criticised Corden - host of the event - for standing with his hands in his pockets, adding: "From where I was sitting, I could see your belly."
Corden responded: "You could see my belly. I can see you dying right now."
The pair continued to trade insults, and several prize-winners remarked on the quarrel as they accepted awards.
After the show, Corden said: "I found it quite disappointing. You should ask him about it but I'm certain he's left."
Sir Patrick presented the film actress of the year prize to Avatar star Zoe Saldana.
Cheryl Cole thanked her dentist in her acceptance speech
Accepting her award, she said to Corden: "I like your belly but I'd like to see Sir Patrick Stewart dying on stage any day."
Corden then said: "I feel bad for people who haven't seen my belly."
To huge applause, the Gavin and Stacey star lifted his T-shirt, revealing his tummy.
Referring to Sir Patrick, he said: "OK can we get a taxi really quickly please. There's an old man going home."
Several stars commented on the verbal tussle.
"Entertaining"
Nowhere Boy actor Aaron Johnson said: "I love your belly. That was intense. I didn't know where to look."
Highlights from the 2010 Glamour Women of the Year awards.
Singer Duffy told the crowd she thought Corden was doing a "wonderful job" and called him "highly entertaining".
Meanwhile, Girls Aloud singer and X Factor judge Cheryl Cole was named woman of the year at the event, which took place in central London.
The star, who recently announced she was divorcing her footballer husband Ashley Cole, said: "Four or five years ago, I'd never dreamt I'd be here amongst so many glamorous women.
"One person I definitely have to thank is my dentist. So thank you very much."
Among the other winners were The One Show host Christine Bleakley, who won presenter of the year, best TV personality went to Dannii Minogue and Florence and the Machine took band of the year.
There were also trophies for Lily Allen, Ruth Jones, Billie Piper, Nicole Richie, Fearne Cotton, Alexandra Burke and Yoko Ono who won an outstanding contribution award.
The winners were voted for by readers of Glamour magazine

Yeah, Fearne Cotton was talking about it earlier she said it was really really embarrassing to watch and that most people were with James, which isn't really surprising. The death bit is a bit low but lmao at his resort "cover your belly if you fancy one of the Jonas bros" everyone was like... lmao. Anyway, Patrick Stewart should just shut up, he is nothing more than a try hard and this will put things back into perspective for him. Realising he can't just say what he wants because of who he is and will make him acknowledge he's not as popular as he thinks.

Patrick Stewart is a fine actor!
I find the whole thing confusing though. For a start, that report is awful because it makes it sound all hostile but in the video Stewart seems to be having a laugh while Corden is kind of taking it on the chin but at the same time taking it a bit too seriously (which is surprising for him).
Also that wasn't Cheryl Cole :S

That was the whole thing though. All the celebs there (that I've read) said Patrick really ruined the atmosphere and it got too personal. You can see that it did. Patrick was desperate to think of something to come back with. I know he's a legend and all that but he shouldn't have started banter that isn't funny because it was always going to be a lead balloon.

To be fair, Patrick was so dying on stage... Everyone was all thinking "OMG" or "Oh dear" as he didn't really seem to be making a point, so Corden had a right to say what he did, because Patrick was definitely "dying on stage" with that comment. It was embarassing :P

Yeah it's all a bit weird. I suppose it is Stewart's fault for starting it off by criticising Corden's attitude because even if it sounded funny in his head at first, it just backed Corden into a corner and there wasn't anything good he could say and then Stewart just failed as you say lol

It did come off as rude, it was over-stepping the mark and challenging his presenting skills, which many people say are beyond good anyway :P If he made a slight jab at the chubbyness, both of them and the audience could of had a laugh, but his jab was towards his weight AND the way he presents himself - not a good idea :P

Patrick was right for saying what he said about Corden's slobby posture, but it's the comments after that went sour. Regardless, Corden isn't funny, whatsoever, and will never amount to anything in comparison to Stewart.

Corden is by far one of our best presenters. Lets not forget why he was asked to present. Patrick wasn't right at all. Even if he thought that in the back of his mind he had no right to say it in front of everyone. He assumed everyone would side with him because of who he is. Glad it backfired and everyone was with James. It's like in a lion pack when the older male gets shown up in front of the younger superior model. Good bye Patrick, the end is near.

This is on of the most stupid things i have ever heard.Patrick Stewart is a legendary actor of whom many have respect for and your basically saying a guy whos an overweight slob, isnt in the slightest bit even funny and needs to grow up is on par if not better than Mr. Stewart? Well im sorry but your wrong.
Quite frankly im glad James got shown up, serves him right as you honestly cant throw abuse at people and not expect some form of a backlash.

I can't really accept that, everyone has there own opinions and if they want to be seen or not, He was the presenter, why shouldn't he stand back? what does he want him to do put his arm round him smile with a thumbs up like a cheesy european presenter, i think not.
What patrik said was uncalled for, his humour is much more worse than cordons, its just plain childish.
Cordon didn't mean literally "die right here on stage" from oldness, he meant his jokes were dying.
I love the way cordon just took it with a good old british style. He had enough of this **** when he grew up on the streets, why should he take it from a veteran actor.

Cordon is much better than Patrik stuart, judging by family guy, he's not really a talented actor, judging by was it star trek, he isn't a good actor. The things just had good writing. In X-men he wasn't exactly over exceptional either, There are much better actors out there than patrik stuart. And ones who are much more grown up.
Family guy pretty much pinned the nail on the head when they showed patrik stuart as a spoilt brat.
lol james cordon shoulda called him a baldie fudge packer

That's the thing though, he didn't get shown up in the slightest. Read any account from people who were there. They've all said similar things, Patrick ruined the atmosphere. Just because of his status he can't do as he please. This was explained when people shouted at him "shut up" and "get on with it". I am neutral. The people who were actually there though and the video posted make it quite clear who is in the wrong. He said about his presenting skills... then his weight... then made an awful joke about sexuality. Corden gave banter back which made people laugh.

dislike them both so they can just carry on lol
what a pathetic and childish thing to say, it wasn't even funny? he has no right to comment on either his posture nor his weight because that's how he is and he's become succesful from it. there isn't a such thing as the best way to present awards, soo glad the bald muppet must have felt 2 feet tall after that.

None of what you said made any sense :/ Stweart made a stupid comment and got stupid comments back. He threw the first punch and it was sour. I don't think Immense was suggesting Corden is better than Stewart in a professional sense, but in a moral/behavioural sense, because Corden only shot back at him because his comments were uncalled for. I'm not sure why you're defending Stewart, when everyone who was there thought it was unacceptable and sided with Corden :P

This. He's not funny outside of Gavin and Stacey :/

Patrick seemed drunk, I thought it was really awkward how Corden just folded his arms and looked at the floor afterwards.

I've found him funny when he's been on top gear etc, and when he does shows like 8 out of 10 cats, + he's hilarious in Lesbian Killer Vampires.

I thought he looked a bit put down, seemed like patrik got a bit to personal cordons likeness, He might have even been a big fan of patrik stuart until that moment. Probably deciding whether to retaliate or let it go, obviously he retaliated.
