Comedian James Corden and Sir Patrick Stewart became involved in a bizarre on-stage spat at the Glamour Awards on Tuesday.

Sir Patrick criticised Corden - host of the event - for standing with his hands in his pockets, adding: "From where I was sitting, I could see your belly."

Corden responded: "You could see my belly. I can see you dying right now."

The pair continued to trade insults, and several prize-winners remarked on the quarrel as they accepted awards.

After the show, Corden said: "I found it quite disappointing. You should ask him about it but I'm certain he's left."

Sir Patrick presented the film actress of the year prize to Avatar star Zoe Saldana.

Cheryl Cole thanked her dentist in her acceptance speech
Accepting her award, she said to Corden: "I like your belly but I'd like to see Sir Patrick Stewart dying on stage any day."

Corden then said: "I feel bad for people who haven't seen my belly."

To huge applause, the Gavin and Stacey star lifted his T-shirt, revealing his tummy.

Referring to Sir Patrick, he said: "OK can we get a taxi really quickly please. There's an old man going home."

Several stars commented on the verbal tussle.

    "Entertaining"

Nowhere Boy actor Aaron Johnson said: "I love your belly. That was intense. I didn't know where to look."

Highlights from the 2010 Glamour Women of the Year awards.
Singer Duffy told the crowd she thought Corden was doing a "wonderful job" and called him "highly entertaining".

Meanwhile, Girls Aloud singer and X Factor judge Cheryl Cole was named woman of the year at the event, which took place in central London.

The star, who recently announced she was divorcing her footballer husband Ashley Cole, said: "Four or five years ago, I'd never dreamt I'd be here amongst so many glamorous women.

"One person I definitely have to thank is my dentist. So thank you very much."

Among the other winners were The One Show host Christine Bleakley, who won presenter of the year, best TV personality went to Dannii Minogue and Florence and the Machine took band of the year.

There were also trophies for Lily Allen, Ruth Jones, Billie Piper, Nicole Richie, Fearne Cotton, Alexandra Burke and Yoko Ono who won an outstanding contribution award.

The winners were voted for by readers of Glamour magazine

Feel sort of bad for James Cordon
I’ll be a story in your head, but that’s okay, because we’re all stories in the end. Just make it a good one, eh? Because it was, you know. It was the best. A daft old man who stole a magic box and ran away. Did I ever tell you that I stole it? Well, I borrowed it. I always meant to take it back. Oh, that box, Amy, you’ll dream about that box. It’ll never leave you. Big and little at the same time. Brand-new and ancient and the bluest blue ever. And the times we had, eh? Would had…Never had. In your dreams, they’ll still be there. The Doctor and Amy Pond and the days that never came.

Yeah, Fearne Cotton was talking about it earlier she said it was really really embarrassing to watch and that most people were with James, which isn't really surprising. The death bit is a bit low but lmao at his resort "cover your belly if you fancy one of the Jonas bros" everyone was like... lmao. Anyway, Patrick Stewart should just shut up, he is nothing more than a try hard and this will put things back into perspective for him. Realising he can't just say what he wants because of who he is and will make him acknowledge he's not as popular as he thinks.

Patrick Stewart is a fine actor!

I find the whole thing confusing though. For a start, that report is awful because it makes it sound all hostile but in the video Stewart seems to be having a laugh while Corden is kind of taking it on the chin but at the same time taking it a bit too seriously (which is surprising for him).
Also that wasn't Cheryl Cole :S

That was the whole thing though. All the celebs there (that I've read) said Patrick really ruined the atmosphere and it got too personal. You can see that it did. Patrick was desperate to think of something to come back with. I know he's a legend and all that but he shouldn't have started banter that isn't funny because it was always going to be a lead balloon.

To be fair, Patrick was so dying on stage... Everyone was all thinking "OMG" or "Oh dear" as he didn't really seem to be making a point, so Corden had a right to say what he did, because Patrick was definitely "dying on stage" with that comment. It was embarassing

Yeah it's all a bit weird. I suppose it is Stewart's fault for starting it off by criticising Corden's attitude because even if it sounded funny in his head at first, it just backed Corden into a corner and there wasn't anything good he could say and then Stewart just failed as you say lol

It did come off as rude, it was over-stepping the mark and challenging his presenting skills, which many people say are beyond good anyway If he made a slight jab at the chubbyness, both of them and the audience could of had a laugh, but his jab was towards his weight AND the way he presents himself - not a good idea

Patrick was right for saying what he said about Corden's slobby posture, but it's the comments after that went sour. Regardless, Corden isn't funny, whatsoever, and will never amount to anything in comparison to Stewart.
