why did HxF upgraded to vB 4.0, instead of staying on 3.8 or whatever?

You can't stay in the past forever :P I don't entirely know the precise reasons, Jamesy or Jin will give a better answer although I'd imagine it'd be to keep up with security patches and other updates.

You will have to go to the top I'm afraid for a true answer. I was just asked to make skins for it :P. Though I assume just to keep on top of things and move forward. Maybe Jin had another motive, I don't know :)

Probably around that reason. Even if we didn't go to Vbulletin 4 straight away, I'm sure it would of been done further down the line anyway. Products get old and you replace them with new ones, same reason applies to going to Vb 4 really.
