Welcome to the biggest and most popular Habbo forum! If this is your first visit, why not check out the FAQ? It is filled with all the information you need to help you get started!

You will need to register before you can be part of the community so why not register now? It's free and fast! You'll love being part of the community once you've registered and after all, it is where the fun really starts!

To start reading through threads, first select a forum you find interesting by clicking on it. You will then be able to read the threads that seem intriguing.

Once registered you will also be able to take part in many competitions which are run by Habbox staff where you can win rares on Habbo UK, take part in many discussions and activities such as trading your furni on Habbo!

Instead of "Habbo Forum", maybe say "Habbo Discussion Board" as many Habbos will have no clue what a forum is.
Instead of thread, maybe say "topics" for the same reasons above.
And instead of forum (as in individual forums), maybe say sections.

Habbo UK needs to be changed to "Habbo" or "Habbo .com" or "Habo USA".

I realise you want to keep it short, but maybe mention its part of Habbox.com which used to be a Golden Fansite on Habbo UK - gives people more confidence in the site.

I've been thinking about making HabboxForum more accessible for new users for a while, and as I said on MSN I'm going to write a guide, so it might be an idea to shortern that notice a bit and then put something like "If you'd like help getting to know HabboxForum, click here!" or something and then the guide will explain everything! But I do like some of the word suggestions you have mentioned :)

This seems a bit nitpicky to me. I wonder how many new users actually read that message, I know I didn't! Also, where's the evidence that most Habbos don't know what a forum is? Is there really that much of a culture difference?

www.habboxdiscussionboard.com (http://www.habboxdiscussionboard.com), coming soon to a forum (habbo discussion board) near you!

Yeah the registration bit can be a bit hard but I rarely hear 'what's a forum?' the usual is 'how do i post a thread' rather than 'what's a thread?' which is why I think it's a bit silly to change a few words!

but ofc the Habbo UK bit needs to be changed :D

Well I know a lot of american users call it a 'Discussion Board' so I think that's what he's getting at with that xD
I think what Oli said is quite a good idea a guide and link to it in the notice :)

instead of this i think it would be a good idea to write a guide for people who have never used a forum before

I much prefer calling it a forum. It's HxF - not HxDB.

A Bulletin Board is what they used to be called years ago. A forum is more advanced than a bulletin board :)

Plus vBulletin call it a forum :D

Yeah, HxF is more catchy then HxDB lol

I am not asking it to be called that HxDB, but believe it or not, a lot of people have no clue what a forum is. They don't know how to use one. They dont know what a thread is. However people know what a discussion board is and a section and topic makes more sense to some than forums and threads.

Ofcourse on the forum it will be called threads etc, but just in the intro it might be an idea to change it to make it clear for new people.

I think what your suggesting is acutally a good idea, it would take a matter of seconds and would only make the message easyer to understand for competely new people.

Yeah, if I saw HxDB I'd think Habbox Database :P
I do agree with these small changes actually. I've never seen it for HxF, but on other forums which I use you do get the odd person saying "what is a thread?" and "how do I reply?"

A link to a guide would be the best idea, shortening that big welcome essay too :)

Same haha, didn't want to sound too nerdy though :D

If nobody knows how to use a forum, then surely they wont know how to use a bulletin board.. since it's the exact same thing, just different words.

So they would still be asking how to reply because they don't know how to use the software.

Everybody on here at one point, never knew what a forum or a thread was. You just learn the ways of the internet :)

I think you should leave it a forum... no point changing something that doesn't need to be changed. Although the Habbo UK needs changing.

Yep Saurav is right, the amount of people we get in HxHD asking about Habbox and HxF is quite alot, most of them don't have a clue. Some of them think it's your habb opass and stuff lol.

I like this idea. It could be so simple as to just be a 3 stage graphic showing the process up and online, and wouldn't be especially difficult to do.

As I said in my original post a guide is being drawn up of not only how to register but how to use the forum.

I'm then going to have the "Welcome PM" re-written and the guide link added into it :)

"Forum" and "Discussion Board" don't mean anything either way. It's nitpicking. Leaving it as forum and having "blah blah to discuss Habbo and other things" kinda makes it obvious that a forum is place to discuss, and mentioning threads would mean you discuss things in them.

EDIT: A colourful guide would be nice.

Also, calling this forum a Habbo USA or Habbo USA related forum is gut wretching, we speak proper English here, not of this favor, color, rumor crap. Habbo.com is fine though.
