Default Message on top for unregistered

Welcome to the biggest and most popular Habbo forum! If this is your first visit, why not check out the FAQ? It is filled with all the information you need to help you get started!

You will need to register before you can be part of the community so why not register now? It's free and fast! You'll love being part of the community once you've registered and after all, it is where the fun really starts!

To start reading through threads, first select a forum you find interesting by clicking on it. You will then be able to read the threads that seem intriguing.

Once registered you will also be able to take part in many competitions which are run by Habbox staff where you can win rares on Habbo UK, take part in many discussions and activities such as trading your furni on Habbo!
Instead of "Habbo Forum", maybe say "Habbo Discussion Board" as many Habbos will have no clue what a forum is.
Instead of thread, maybe say "topics" for the same reasons above.
And instead of forum (as in individual forums), maybe say sections.

Habbo UK needs to be changed to "Habbo" or "Habbo .com" or "Habo USA".

I realise you want to keep it short, but maybe mention its part of Habbox.com which used to be a Golden Fansite on Habbo UK - gives people more confidence in the site.

I've been thinking about making HabboxForum more accessible for new users for a while, and as I said on MSN I'm going to write a guide, so it might be an idea to shortern that notice a bit and then put something like "If you'd like help getting to know HabboxForum, click here!" or something and then the guide will explain everything! But I do like some of the word suggestions you have mentioned

This seems a bit nitpicky to me. I wonder how many new users actually read that message, I know I didn't! Also, where's the evidence that most Habbos don't know what a forum is? Is there really that much of a culture difference?

Yeah the registration bit can be a bit hard but I rarely hear 'what's a forum?' the usual is 'how do i post a thread' rather than 'what's a thread?' which is why I think it's a bit silly to change a few words!

but ofc the Habbo UK bit needs to be changed

Well I know a lot of american users call it a 'Discussion Board' so I think that's what he's getting at with that
I think what Oli said is quite a good idea a guide and link to it in the notice

instead of this i think it would be a good idea to write a guide for people who have never used a forum before

I much prefer calling it a forum. It's HxF - not HB.

A Bulletin Board is what they used to be called years ago. A forum is more advanced than a bulletin board

Plus vBulletin call it a forum

I am not asking it to be called that HB, but believe it or not, a lot of people have no clue what a forum is. They don't know how to use one. They dont know what a thread is. However people know what a discussion board is and a section and topic makes more sense to some than forums and threads.

Ofcourse on the forum it will be called threads etc, but just in the intro it might be an idea to change it to make it clear for new people.
