Okay, so after finally getting my hands on untouched windows 7 ISO, when installing i get the error;
0x80070241
Basically, its sayings there is files missing or something - after looking through google, i have tried some of the techniques it mentions to get my installation working, all of which have failed for me.
Does anybody know how on earth im going to fix this? I'm booting from a virtual drive from alcohol 120% by the way, not an actual disk.
I don't know if burning it to a disk would make much difference.
Mega +rep to anybody at all who points in the right directions and helps me sort of this frustrating problem!

Usually it has to be burned to a disk to work. Also the ISO could be incomplete. how do you know its been untouched, just because they say so. Also your download could be missing a few bits, its happens.
Check the hash of the iso to the originals.

Well i downloaded it straight from a site, so i presume its all there?
I'll try burning it to a disc and see if that makes any difference, from what people have said on the internet though, it doesn't make much of a difference and i've ran windows installations before from alcohol 120%.
Check the hash of the iso to the originals.
How would i go about doing that?

I've installed Windows 7 from a mounted CD ISO inside Windows 7 plenty of times.

Okay, so i burned it and tried to install from CD.
Still no luck, i'm running out of ideas now and i haven't got another direct link to an ISO to download in IDM.

Use this program with the -sha1 switch to generate the hash and check the output against relevant one above.

Yeah, i basically don't know what all that means bro.
Any chance of a tad more detail in what to do?
Ok, download that link I posted, run it and extract it on your desktop or something. You'll have a file called fciv.
Open the start menu, type "cmd" and press enter on your keyboard. You should get a black command prompt window.
Now here's the simplest way I can think of doing this for you:
Drag and drop the fciv file on to this black window. Press spacebar and type -sha1 press space bar again and then drag and drop the iso file onto the Window. Press enter and it should generate the sha1 for the iso file. Compare it to the sha1 values in my quote above. If it's a complete, untouched iso then it's going to give the same sha1 hash as listed above. It will take a few seconds to calculate it.
Here' a screenshot of what it should look like just before you press enter to generate the hash:

It does not let me drag and drop into cmd.

Try typing it in manually then using my screenshot as guidance. You may want to put the files on your desktop for ease as I've shown it.

Ok, i did it and it says:
File Checksum Integrity Verifier version 2.05.
So no, i couldn't get the values to come up.

Give it a minute, it's probably calculating it. Have a look now it probably took 20-30 seconds after pressing enter.

Okay, something has came up now.
It says;
f573d753a131b77a944063b2b009ba3bc25b9be2 c\users\jamie\desktop\X15-65732.iso
I guess that's not right?

It either means:
a) The one you downloaded is not original/untouched
b) It is original/untouched but there was a problem when downloading which caused part of it to be corrupted/missing. (or a combination of a) along with this)
c) It is original/untouched, but it's a variation by Microsoft, so has a different sha1 hash.
I think a) or b) is most likely.
Your file is called X15-65732.iso - if it is untouched then why rename it? The real file names when you get them straight from Microsoft are the ones listed in my quote a few posts back (either name or other name).

I just downloaded it, i don't know why it's called that or anything.
Don't microsoft have a downloadable installer or something? I have my own product keys, i use just need a 32bit installer because i only have x64bit disk at the moment.

Nope, you can't donwload it from Microsoft.com unless you buy it on their website.
Imo, the best way of getting large files than need to be downloaded perfectly with no errors is bittorrent. BitTorrent downloads the file in parts (generally between 64KB - 4MB per part denending on the filesize) and each part is hash checked (the correct hashes for each part is in the .torrent file) and any parts that don't hash correctly are redownloaded.

Just to let you know, my Windows 7 ISO (I'm 99% sure it's 32bit) is called "X15-65804.iso" and I know that's original and untouched with an MD5 of D8F675AAEB48057452666B0CD686D7F5. That's one I was given by the county before our VLK was active :P
