The stig has been revealed as Ben Collins. This means that the stig has died? Far from it the BBC have now sacked collins and have found a replacement stig.
Who will it be? What colour will this one be? Thoughs

Oh I heard something about this on the radio yesterday. I suppose Ben Collins simply wants to make a lot of money and writing an autobiography seems the easy route!

It was obvious that we were gonna find out one day lmao.
But yeah, I wonder who the new one is gonna be.

Thing is he wasn't always the stig and that's why they had him unidentifiable, because some car companies won't let their cars be raced around a track as fast as possible by anybody but their own representatives.
Ben Collins was merely the Top Gear version of the Stig who would drive the cars when either A) Top Gear owned the car or B) the car company let them, but most of the big companies provide drivers - which is why the Stig was formed like he was so nobody could tell who he is.

Im hoping the next one is the Blue Stig :D
It was going to come out one day anyway, and I hope they have a new colour :D
His identity as Ben Collins has been an open secret for years anyway. Just a shame it had to be openly outed now.
New Stig anyway :P.
I am the new Stig.

I never knew that but I guess that does make logical sense now I know that haha. Personally I wouldn't want to read any of the 'Stigs' biographies, I don't see how it could be interesting to read a few hundred page book on driving cars.

Ah I was wondering what the outcome would of been. His fault really, for breaking a contract with the BBC, or letting his employers break his contract for him (if it was true that his employers were the ones that wrote about their contract with the BBC 'Top Gear'). It's not really going to affect us viewers, as we'd probably not really notice the changes between him, the other Stigs, and a new one.

I'm quite disappointed that The Stig's identity has been revealed publicly. I for one am quite interested to read his biography though, I adore Topgear!

So will Ben Collins be fired and they get a new person for whatever tasks he did? It is a shame he had to do this though. I love Top Gear! :(

Just in time for them to get a new Stig. I mean, maybe this was all set up so they wanted to get a new Stig in? Seems like a convenient time for it to happen in between filming sessions.

This is wrong because the Stig was always very short. :)

Lame. There'll be none better than the current Stig. His lap times are legendary.

Lol, what's that matter - you never see them stood next to eachother or see them often enough to know. You only have to look at the logic behind it if it's true, if you were a company which were lending a TV programme a £100,000+ supercar for them to race it fast around a circuit, would you not want your own driver doing it? This is why the Stig was made anonymous.

Not always, deposits, fees, insurance. Some might insist on their own drivers, but most probably wouldn't. If they let Clarkson drive it around, what's the harm in letting Collins race it around an empty track?
They might keep the White Stig, obviously just a new driver.

It depends which car it is, most of the supercars come with drivers, or they did back in the day, I know that it was the reason for the Stig's hidden idenitity in the first place, perhaps now the show is the most respected motoring show on TV it may be different but I know the original idea behind the Stig was to hide the fact that it was a different person per car.
The Michael Schumacher thing shows they still do it, they get his ferrari and he wants to drive it so they make him the stig - only other difference is that they then used it as a publicity stunt.
I know Heikki Kovalainen or however you spell it also drove as the Stig once too.
