I had that when I first bought mine. Went a few weeks playing it and then it wouldn't read anything

My ps3 can still read normal dvds, but finds it hard to load up any bluray discs. Must be that the laser is dead

if you send it to sony, they won't fix it, they'll replace it (in most cases). Save your game files :P

My PS3 struggled to read Blu-rays for months, then died on me last week with Yellow Light of Death. I took it to an independent guy and the sole problem was dust build up. It now works perfectly, and at less than half the cost of Sony.

so it could be a dust buildup inside my ps3 thats causing the problem?

Do you have the yellow light problem? Turns on then off few seconds later with a flashing light?

No i don't get the yellow light issue, it just has problems loading a few games, I had managed to get Medal of Honor working earlier this morning after the PS3 was off overnight, The ps3 was never off while my brothers were down for the entire week as they kept playing Mw2 non stop (ofcourse without stopping to eat, sleep and do their number 2's but other than that the ps3 never had time to cool down

That will only last 3 - 5 months, its a temp fix, expect to buy a new ps3 soon. I've done this with 2 PS3's now so I bought a slim.
Have you not tried to get a dvd lense cleaner as putting mucky games into the console can cause build up on the lense. If its still within warranty then send it back, if not, send it back and get a reconned 1 for £125. Although I wouldnt recommend replacing the disc drive ad you need to swap the drive board with the one fused with your ps3's motherboard.

Circuitry has been fixed, new fan, etc, so I think I'm good to go for the long haul. I will be buying a new one soon any way as my Blu-ray lens is on the fritz.

My PS3 seems to be fine on loading up some of my games like Saints Row 2 and Modern Warfare 2, but still finds it hard to read Medal of Honor
