heeeeey
this is the instrumental for a new song i'm working on
before i record it i want to improve this, as i think there is always room for improvement, so i would love if if you all could give constructive criticism and general feedback to help me.
if it's just not a style of music you enjoy and you have nothing decent to offer please just don't reply
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvuRuQpHfv4
PLEASE ignore the horrible 'harry b' watermark thing, that's just me being scared that someone, for some reason, decides to steal it, god knows why they would but you can never be too careful :P

I really like this, and it'll sound a lot better once it's actually recorded. My breakdown...
First section - Love the chord progressions, but plain chords can be a bit chuggy (will probably sound better once the vocals are over the top)
Next bit - HEAVY BASS LINES FTW (i so have my subwoofer out, pouding out the house ;)). It's really good!
@ 2.00, the link is a bit fuzzy, I like the idea of almost stopping but it sort of goes "pwffhh" if you get what I mean LOL
@ 3.00, the transition between sections doesn't seem as fluent as the other ones at all, but I like the little returning of the original theme, gives it a 'cyclic nature' (you can tell I'm a music student right? LOL)
Overall, I really like this, and even though it's not really my style, it's the sort of thing I could get into! What program did you use to write it? +rep :)

such an amazinggg response thank you +rep
i don't really know what you mean by pwfffhh :( is there any way you could possibly describe it differently?
and yes i was hoping someone would pick up on that just to check i'm not the only one that thinks that. i'm trying to work on the changing of the section so thank you :) does anybody have any suggestions on how i can do this so it doesn't sound so sudden?
well i wrote it on piano initially then i used fl studio and most of the instruments are different vsts i downloaded from around the internet. some people say fl studio is just a program for amateurs or whatever but thats all i am and i can make things like this that i am proud of so i'm not bothered.

Now I'm back I shall continue my in-depth analysis............
There's nothing wrong with amateur programs, I love them, like, my friend runs a successful comic blog site and she uses MS Paint so there ya go!
Okay well if you listen to it, it sounds like the repeated note is going to happen again, but there's a sort of muffled sound over the top... i'm terrible at describing things XDXD
Right... ideas for link
As I said this isn't my type of music buttt how about the underneath rising melody comes in over the rave-y bit while the rave bit fades out? It also doesn't seem balanced, as the last part is a lot shorter. Only tiny things though - I'm a perfectionist obsessed with symmetry so yeah... XD
SOUNDING AMAZING XO
8BIT PIECE:
This reminds me of that scene in the original Tron, lovinggg the game influences!! Can't really see anything wrong, apart from the link - I KNOW they're difficult to write... how about a reverse cannon effect (if you can/know what I mean at all)
OOoooooohhhh I really like these. Like, a LOT.

I'm still not exactly sure what you meann :( do you mean the echo between where the sections change? cos if not i'm really puzzled here :P it could just be youtube cos the sound quality is worse

The only problem with that is I produced the two different parts separately, and the piano end part is a completely different tempo to the main part so if I put them together it would just be out of time ;( and hopefully the last part wont sound as unbalanced when i record the vocals, because right now i'm planning for that whole part to have vocals over it. but when i do come to record it i will definitely try that out and see how it sounds :)

I love the first one but you do need to work on the changing of the sections. Other than that I think it's really good.
OMG I SERIOUSLY LOVE THE SECOND ONE AHHHH it's like a mix between pacman and space invaders (duhh wiki lol) +rep

The first ones nice, it's a bit dull on the first section, I like it when it livens up.
The second ones like the others said, pacman and mario :D
Nice work :)
