Right, yeah I know, been posted a hundred times - not sure why it got turned down, might as well post to see what people think.

Since, obviously we want people to post etc, why not have a rewards system?

Lets say a user posts 100 times, they now get one point. Points could be traded in for; reputation, donor, VIP, habbo credits etc, advertising space for your room on Habbox.com (check this thread for that idea..: http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=695195) etcetera.

The system in terms of getting points would be automatic. A features manager would obviously be needed to add the forum based rewards (perhaps allow a super MOD to take on this role?)

This would be an ongoing thing, and once you had enough points for certain items you could cash it in - different rewards would require different amounts of points.

I just feel this would allow you to reward users for posting frequently etc - and if possible would be a fun way to do it. If you wanted new users to get involved early on, you could explain the points system to them and offer them double points for the first week.

Thoughts?

I personally do not see the point. Posting raises your level naturally and points aren't worth anything. If you let people "buy" donor and/or VIP it ruins the point when Habbox need money rather than points that they can easily generate anyway (seeing as they own them and create them) :P Buying rep also ruins the point - rep should be earned, not bought for which has caused so many arguments, like when someone decided management should have 60 Rep Power which was unfair. I'm not too sure how people can buy Habbo Credits with them when I am sure Habbo would be against that for legal reasons :/ Advertising space could easily be done with furni donations which would be of more use than the points.

Are rewards necessary at the moment? People seem quite happy posting. You should, afterall, post if you want to and enjoy the topic, not because Habbox will slip you a point here and there for your effort :P

It wouldn't buying rep - it would be exchanging rep as a well done for getting x amount of posts etc.

I am just trying to think of ways users can be encouraged to stay and post, since clearly about half the forum hates this Posting Competition.

I've never really been a fan of point systems tbh, mainly cos as ryan says, the rewards are already there. You're just adding unnecessary ones on top imo. I also think it'd be complicated and just add unnecessary stress to whoever was in charge of it.

Oh and we already have a features manager btw. :D

Fair enough, I think saying 'you are just adding unnecessary ones on top imo' is slightly harsh - it has been highlighted that management would like people to post ore (like newer members), but that doesn't just happen magically. You need to entice them to stay - hey, this idea might not be the right way to do that, but it is still one more idea than I have seen posted before it.

Also I am fully aware we have a features manager, however I think it would be somewhat too much added on to an already big job.

I've never fully understood why members do not stay. When I look back to when I joined, I remember associating myself with members of staff and being involved with the Help Desk to keep up to date and chat. Perhaps Habbo based staff should be more talkative, and forum staff more personable? How you would do that I don't know, as it's never really been a problem but somehow it has become one :/

Actually if the present leaderboard is automatic, it could be utilised for this purpose say for three months at a time and at the end of the three months the top 3 posters could be rewarded. I am not even sure if this is feasible or time efficient but would reward active regular posters.

I'm sorry you thought I was harsh but I'm not going to sugarcoat what I think either. I do think it's unnecessary. I think it'd be much more worthwhile to have more staff posting. I think to get the newer members posting more, they'd need to see their Habbox "role models" - the DJs, the managers (basically the people they interact with the most) - and that would require an attitude change.

This really sounds like a permament posting competition under a different name. :D

I don't think there is a problem with staff and management posting too much, obviously encouraging staff and managers to post is a good idea but I don't think if more staff post more new members will post, I think an interesting point in support of Milestone's idea is that an idea like this would encourage everyone to post but it is a lot of hassle and when I looked at introducing a kind of rewards system we simply don't have the resources to do it, too much VIP is already given out, too much rep is given out and we really can't give out donator because we need the cash so it's quite limited in terms of what rewards we can give out.

As I mentioned in another thread the other day we are going to start offering new members 2 weeks VIP if they achieve 100 posts in their first month as a forum member which should help encourage new members to post.

As I have said a lot over the last few weeks, the DJ's are probably the worst for not posting on the forum. This is a problem in my eyes, as they are the most popular department. New habbo users would love to join if they had the chance to talk to their favourite DJs.

Maybe not, but you don't need to target me over it either. I don't care if you slam my idea down, I do care if you make it personal to me though.

Giving Newbies 2 weeks VIP, could cause some hassle. As they are allowed to close their own threads they could be making a mess opening and closing their own threads and opening threads that have been closed by MODS.

Well if they did then they would get told it is against the rules but it is highly unlikely. Also they would not get it until the end of the month - 100 posts in a month so spamming wouldn't help them. :)

i just don't see the point in this, you shouldn't have to be bribed to post yaknow. and if people DO need to be bribed to post here then maybe that's not the community habbox needs anyway.

No the new promotion iss not meant for that ( if that is what you are referring to). Some people are just shy of posting - just an encouragement. Like a BOGOF! Try is and see if you like it. :P

If users don't want in to make people spam, why not just offer it to members for their first month of being members? For every x posts (after making lets say 100 posts) they can get a reward. I don't think that would be ideal, but at least then you couldn't accuse older members of spamming - after all an idea like this is more to get people coming back, rather than making 5 posts and leaving and not to keep people like me with 10k posts.
