Just wondering how people made their choices, right now I'm thinking about possible unis and so far I have 2, but I've no idea how to choose any others.

I compiled a list of all the universities in the UK, then I got rid of all the ones I didn't want to go to and all those that I decided were too far away. From there I picked out the universities that offered a degree I wanted to do, which narrowed it down further. Then from there I picked the five that sounded the best and had the best reputation.

Randomly thinking of and looking at Uni websites to check entry requirements, the course and what life was like, then visiting them etc.
Wasn't difficult, I didn't want to go to a Uni more than an hour and a half away :P

I first started by going down the league table and compiled lists of the ones which I felt I could get in. The problem was that I did all this purely on UCAS and I didn't look at the course content. It turns out that "English" isn't the same as "English Language" - and I wanted the latter. I had to look down the list of universities again seeing which ones did English Language.
Then when I got my AS results through, I had to reconsider because I got slightly higher than expected. I visited Leeds and Newcastle prior to applying and we had a drive around the Lancaster campus earlier in the month. In the end, there were three that I really wanted to apply for (Lancaster, Leeds and Newcastle), and the other two were just added on the end incase I didn't get offers (Birmingham and Sussex). Thankfully, I've now received offers from them all and I'm pretty stuck over which to choose!
okay i chose mine for the worst reason ever because my long term boyfriend lived near there and i wanted to be with him haaaa!!!! luckily it was a good university (uni of kent) but i had to leave regardless. i'm hopefully going back to uni in september and this time i will be compiling all the university's in the area (i can't leave the midlands :() and seeing which course is more suited to me.

i chose the one closest to me, i aint leaving my mum!! no way. plus i know like nothing about university or university life so i don't really care about the social aspect etc as long as there's plenty opportunities then it's good enough for me
Inseriousity.

hehe is that before or after he stole your tights? ;P
i was really bad. i didnt go on any open days but i went to york st john for a conference and really enjoyed the atmosphere and my gut instinct just told me it was the place to go. rather stupid really now that people seem to have some big massive chart where they rank unis out of 5but it's all worked out for me:D

I live near York woo.
I don't plan on going to uni because I'm doing hairdressing at college in september but we had an opportunity to go to an open day at Hull uni which is 30 mins from me in year 9, so if I went to uni I'd go there because it wasn't too massively big and it seemed really nice and calm atmosphere there.

Ah thanks for the help everyone, I've just spent a few hours looking at the various unis/courses and I've got my list of 'possibles'! :D
I chose unis based how close they are to home and where they are on the league table for my course and I also looked at the area and if I would be happy living there or not.
Key factors you should base it on is:
can you meet the entry requirements
course content and structure
teaching/assessment
do you like the area, on/off campus
do they offer sandwich courses (placements during the course)

i didn't want to be too far from home, and not many universities do the course that i'm doing. also ones that required grades close to my predicted grades.
in the end i chose the uni i'm at because they have the most dedicated teaching and offer really good placement schemes for like 80% of all courses. france in third year yay can't wait

I chose one in Canada because I knew I wanted to go back there and go to school. I originally went to one in the city (close to my dad) but I hated it and my brothers go to a different university 2 hours away so I would go to their house every weekend. This year I just decided to transfer so we all go to the same schools now!!!

Looked on the university league and then chose from there what I felt I could get in, oh and I choose the closest one to home as a backup.
I basically had a lot of flip-flopping on it. Although, I did look at the rankings and the quality of courses of the Unis as that was a crucial factor for me. Then I broke down the ones with the entry requirements that I needed, followed by the areas of the Uni and how much of a student town it was etc.
Anyway, after a lot of headache, switching courses etc. I'm now at Durham Uni :).
