Why are old films coming in the cinema now such as the lion king. I mean like their good films but now their in 3d . 3D ruins a traditional film like the lion king . If u agree tell me?

money! lion king 3d grossed roughly $167 million dollars worldwide, which is incredibly a lot considering it was a re-release for only a few weeks. so now disney wish to emulate this dry with loads of other classic films.

I'm so happy they're doing this!! :D It's now Beauty and the Beast I think. Really fab idea to get moneyz $$. It's great that they're also bringing them out on DVD in 3D aswell as I missed the Lion King but I'm gonna try watching all the others in 3D!

Re-releasing older films is nothing new and has been done for decades. In fact, each and every week, such films see the big screen again in only a handful of screens across the country. Nationwide re-releases, however, backed by generous marketing budgets and plenty of screens (recent examples being The Lion King and Jurassic Park), are also nothing new. It's the 3D conversion aspect which is relatively new, as well as completely unnecessary. Speaking of The Lion King, the recent re-issue featured the most hilariously misjudged use of 3D I've ever seen in an animated film.

If you wish to enjoy classic films on the big screen, either again or for the first time, head to your local independent or art house cinema and check out a 35mm print, rather than the digital prints screened today.

Well , I thought lion king 3d was okie but if u make old films in 1982 u don't do it again! But it's only money that they want

No, thank god. The HD remaster was released in October to coincide with the Blu-ray launch, but barely made any money.

It made me laugh when James Cameron was against the Harry Potter final films coming out in 3D, basically because they where going to have to rush it as it wasn't originally meant for 3D.

What he said if I'm correct was that films shouldn't be filmed then decided to be in 3D just for money, 3D should only be used for classic films and he might have said films that where always planned in 3D.

Classic Films in my opinion should stay as they are.

Because old films are best films. Everything is getting too futuristic, too much fire and blowing up stuff and robots (lol michael bay)

there are good 'old' films, and there are bad 'old' films. there are good 'new' films, and there are bad 'new' films. do you see where this is going?

Theres good new and old films but a lot of bad new and old films too, but i always thought the old films were awesome and true classics

A classic is brought about by age. Movies made today will be regarded as classics as time goes on. That said, more bad movies are made today than in the past.

I was the only person at the screening in Birmingham. Plenty of legroom to say the least! Still enjoyed it though, seeing a childhood favorite on the big screen and no whining children in the background.

There were a lot more people at the Back to the Future rerelease.

I went to see the lion king in 3D simply because it's one of my favourite films. Everyone that went in got a survey and a pencil to complete the survey with and it asked what our favourite part of the film was, what other disney/pixar films we'd be interested in seeing and all sorts of stuff like that. With the lion king it wasn't the 3D that made it really good but the music was phenomenal!
