View Full Version : A* in R.E?
I've never even had a b before so far haha, year 10 science I got a d then resat and got a c, my old r.e teacher predicted me a d cause I was off quite a bit last year, then my new r.e teacher set me a target of an A and I got that in the mock for R.e with 3 marks off an A*. Has anyone on here managed to get an A* in r.e? I really do want an A and possibly an A*. I didn't really revise for the mock, it all just came flooding back to me but my r.e teacher said for the real exam in a few months there's 2 papers with all the topics and they're a few days apart so I need to spread my revision equally for both of them. Does anyone have any links to revision sources online other than bitesize and the edexcel r.e past papers? I'm gonna do some r.e past papers but am wanting some r.e revision links that I can have a look through each night, thanks:)

I've managed to achieve an A - not an A* though lmao. I find R.E quite easy, the philosophy units I enjoy much more than ethics but I'm still fairly good at both of them - If you had to do an exam question on 'Religion and Equality' - good luck is all I can say. The yr 11 one, we didn't get luckily (we did the other 2 questions - some schools did that topic though) because the religion and equality question was "If Christianity is right, all other religions are wrong. - Discuss this statement". Which is just like -die. Glad we didn't have to answer that lmao.
Anyway, enough anecdotes, here's some sites;
http://www.rsrevision.com/contents/index.htm
http://www.request.org.uk/issues/revision/revision.htm- That's mainly just the big issues - e.g. Does God exist.
http://www.reonline.org.uk/ks3/indexx.php
All I can say is to keep revising, I have the final 2 exam papers in study leave as well - I don't even know what they're on LMAO. The philosophy one is to do with the nature of God I think and the ethics one... is urm, Religion, Poverty and Wealth I think. You may have done your exams in a diff. order.
But yeah, keep revising - make it fun lmao, those sites should help - and just realise, it's fairly easy to get an A/A* in R.E IMO, The majority of people doing full course R.E in our school get B's or higher - and most of them don't even do a lot of work in class ._.
i got an a* in r.e!!!!!!!!!! didn't even revise or take the exam seriously and i was very much impressed with myself.
I was predicted a D in RS and ended up getting an A. All I did was go through every single past paper/exam question I could and it really did make a difference.

My grade is a B but I got a A in the mock exam. I'm the top student in my class and I have no clue about RE.
Hmm.. I'm targeted a B in RE but my teacher says I should work for an A. Erm, I don't really think I try with RE but I seem to get good grades, I'd just learn the keywords (we're given sheets about everything we need to know, not sure if you are though). :P So yeah, learn the keywords!
I got an A* and A in a level. (there was no a* when i did a levels) I found R.E pretty easy. What modules are you doing? I probably done totally different modules. We only did Christianity and I would of beenon a diff exam board (ccea).

Ouch exams in RE.. luckily my school choose not to allow us do exams in this subject! :P
Thanks everyone I will try and rep you all :) We did marriage in the family - marriage, contraception, divorce etc, social responsibility, life and death, the issues of is god real, war and conflict and more :P We do get keywords cos we get big like school-made booklets for each topic. Aaron I think it's good to do an exam in it, because after going through it for 2 years it's good to know you at least get a gcse out of it

Most people I know do badly at other GCSE subjects such as history, geography etc and do exceptionally well in R.E/R.S GCSE. It was the only A I got :P

:O You did contraception. Our school decided not to teach us about contraception because it wasn't ever going to appear in the exam - and it didn't. We didn't do marriage or divorce either lmao. We did do war and peace though and a few others.

RE is now compulsary in our school starting next year ( x.x )
But last year, the last time I did RE, we practised on a GCSE paper and I managed to get A* with only revising a little.

its compulsory for me to have to do re however we call it global education at my school (i don't have a clue why), but i would say it was a very easy subject to do, it's just remembering to quote bible quotes etc (well i find it easy anyway). i have got all A's in both my mock and real exams so far in re!! :)

For us, it's compulsory until you're in year 11 - so everyone gets at least half a GCSE in it (short course). If you choose it for options you do the full course = full GCSE.
But yeah, I thought it was compulsory for a certain age for all schools as well o.o

We're a weird school though. Like, we do all our options differently etc.
We HAD to do RE in year 7 and 8, but not in yr 9 onwards. In year 9 you start your options. (pick two).
But now we have to do RE all though school, but that meant making us not do DT anymore

It depends on the school. It wasn't compulsory for me however, the IT short course was.
Ict and Re are compulsory at my school as well as p.e (unfortunately). I'm exactly like you said though Shar, I don't get a's in other subjects but I enjoy r.e. Harriet we don't have to quote bible quotes for our exams/tests? :O

So it's more of a subject that'll help pick up on your marks basically then? :P

oh right didn't you? i am doing the same topics as you, and for example the topic which contained abortion nd that we would say a quote such as 'killing a baby is murder - which is one of the 10 commandments' etc. then we would just further that and explain why.
Oh we kind of do that but your quotes doesn't have to be like exactly. For the abortion part in the mock I put that Catholics believe abortion is murder and in the bible it says that killing is wrong. So not like directly quoting it, if you get what I mean? And then go on to explain more :P

oh yeah i did it like that, but sometimes you have to remember it quite accurately like 'eye for an eye'!! i hope you get an a* in it =]
Yeah I'll try to :D Thank you I really hope I do :P

More or less! :P
But only at GCSE, its a whole new game in A Levels.

R.E was compulsorily at my school from year 7-11, but thats because I go to a Catholic school. I got an A in GCSE R.E
Its compulsorily to do general R.E in the sixth form. But I took R.E as an a-level anyway as I loved it so much. Its practically philosophy and ethics at A-level but under the name R.E.

RE (or RS) was compulsory at my school aswell. I got an A* though :D I just memorized the main points really, because similar questions seemed to come up in the past papers for my exam board.

At my school you can do extra R.E which is RS but either way you still get a GCSE. I hated R.E so much and I've recently done my exam which I got an A in. Didn't find out how many marks off A* because I didn't really care but R.E is such an easy subject at GCSE. Like Shar said, it's completely different at A Level.

Everyone is underrated for R.E. exams, for some reasons teachers see students differently than examiners, or they insert a bit of fear in mocks to see how well their students do when it comes to the teacher marking it themselves. I think I was predicted an E (purely because most of it is rubbish) but got an A. The GCSE questions are incredibly weird.
