Thoughts on the team ...?

My thought are firstly - thats a good team, very capable of winning the Euro's.

Suprised that Carroll has been included in favour of Crouch, but if Carroll can hit form (which he has done lately) then he can really help with holding the ball up & scoring.

Rio Ferdinand has missed out on a place in the team & now this will mean he has NEVER played in a European Championship or World Cup game.

I wouldn't take Ruddy - I'd have him on 'Standby'. The likelyhood of having 2 keepers get injured(before England return home...) is highly unlikely. As for Butland, he's only ever played at League 2 level.

Defenders: Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Phil Jones (Man United),

I wouldn't take Johnson, as I feel Micah Richards is much, much better. Phil Jones is another player who hasn't impressed me this season at all.

Midfielders: Stewart Downing (Liverpool), James Milner (Man City), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool).

Downing is gash, as majority of people will agree. This is also proved by the fact he scored 0 goals, and 0 assists in the league this season, despite playing 36 games. Milner hasn't stood out for me, neither has Henderson.

Strikers: Danny Welbeck (Man United), Andy Carroll (Liverpool).

Welbeck has had a decent season - but others have had much better. As for Carroll - crock of ****e ever since he went to Liverpool.

exactly. It was a friendly and it was completely unnecessary. I've seen videos from various angles and you can see just how much effort he is putting in to throwing cahill at hart. If their heads had clashed and not head-to-shoulder then there could have been a very serious injury out of this. He can apologize all he likes, but he obviously doesn't yet know what its like to miss a major international tournament because of a fellow professional's stupidity.

Who would have thought Denmark would peg Portugal back by 2 goals, only to concede late on. Felt sorry for them, although Ronaldo has chances to put it beyond them and fluffed his lines(not for the first time at international level).

It is annoying yes i agree, but as you say it avoid match fixing and so on... but it is only like the final game of a football season.

I'm sure they will keep up informed of any goals for both of the matches so we are informed of what the current table looks like.

I can't believe Czech Republic qualified and Poland didn't. Then again Czech deserved that goal. They were really quick on their feet whereas Poland weren't in their best form and should've been more alert.

In total agreement here, in my opinion Russia deserved it more, not just saying that because I'm Russian but they really have been playing well - they did let it slip during the second half against Greece though. But it really is pathetic, rules changing all the time it's hard to keep up. I remember when the 'golden goal' was introduced, basically extra time but first to score wins. Bit gutted for Russia really because although they could never win it overall, I think they could have easily progressed further.

I saw this on 'sickipedia'.... just shows if you dont play well as a team over 3 games in a few days then you will struggle.

I reckon it will be between Germany & Spain to win (also depends on who they will play in later rounds)
