Notifications

Hey,
I'm not sure if it'd be possible or if it'd be used but I think it'd be pretty useful to have notifications on the forum just before/ when an event is about to happen. I understand a lot of people dislike notifications so maybe you could add something like a 'subscribe' button or something along those lines. Events are posted in the community notice board but most of the time I just ignore it or just don't notice it, I'm constantly refreshing the forum for new threads so if I was to get a notification it'd be more direct and I wouldn't exactly miss it :P Just a suggestion, I'd imagine there's some sort of vbulltin plugin for this.

You can subscribe to threads and forums. Which gives you some sort of notification If I remember correctly.

Means through the User CP.

Had a look around which would give a notification like the mentions or reputation comments. There's one for threads but not actual forums itself.

Yeh that's why I edited my original post when there are general notifications. I remember having them piled up daily a while back and I was too lazy to click the cross :(.

I'd actually really like this. Instead of making everyone have to go to the CNB, we'd have something that would tell us right away. I'd definitely subscribe to this.

It is used from what I can see, has numbers on the previous days which is where the events have been booked. Although due to the way it works at the moment the threads in CNB are more efficient as any member of the Events Department can post them.

It's completely empty for me..

even the VIP calendar (which VIPs are unable to add events, purpose?!?!) only has very old posts of people putting their birthday (maybe it was auto don't remember) on it..

I don't fancy changing things around because I believe it would affect all of them and not just one. In terms of the 12AM - Not quite sure. Maybe David could explain that one or could be just because he's from mooseland. Not like that would make any difference.

I doubt the VIP calendar was used and if it was it was very rarely. I didn't even realise we still had it to be honest. The reason it takes you back is because the whole calendar template is replaced with the events one.

I was thinking if you had two calendars basically but the replacement which shows the Habbo events is on a new page and to get to it we would just have a drop down from the navigation bar. (Like the Donator one)

I'll have to get one of the site coders onto that I suppose - Although that may have to wait if we change how they are going to be displayed in V7. Hmmm

I remember asking David to sort the 12am issue soon after V6 was introduced, but it seems he only fixed it on the Habbox.com widget and not anywhere else.

As for some kind of notification... there's the "Events" icon on the toolbar up the side of the Site Skin 2011. I don't know if that gives a little pop-up like on Habbox.com (Stay tuned for DJ Habbic coming up in 5 minutes!) but it would be pretty cool if it did. For some reason, it's showing tomorrow's events instead of today's though. People may get a little annoyed if they got a little pop-up when there's an event, but I suppose if you signed up for it then it would be alright. Perhaps some of these things may be implemented, or altered, with V7. :)
