View Full Version : How long would you wait?

So I was reading through some threads and just wondered...

How long do you think it is acceptable to wait to have sex with someone after going into a relationship with them and why??

I don't mean how long talking to them, knowing them or "seeing" them. I mean actually in a relationship?

Mine is at least 1 month because I want them to wait and not just get hat they want and leave. I think it proves they are more likely to stick around and actually care for you.

I think it's whenever you're ready, I remember my last boyfriend we waited 9 month but I was still scared he'd leave me afterwards as was I with my new boyfriend. However, sometimes you get over the worry easily but I think it's whenever you both feel ready. I know in my current relationship it's not about being physical, just being there for each other and if it leads to more we make sure it's what we'd both want.

idk if i really like then id try wait maybe 3/4 months but not planning it just whenever it happens
dont think there's an acceptable time some people last long after one night stand some dont so when u want
i wait a while cause i get attached easily after intimacy tbh so don't really want it to be with someone i have no chance with or who doesn't really like me

What's waiting

4real if you want to get physical with someone do it, as long as all parties are consenting yadda yadda yadda then there's nothing wrong with it whether you've known them 50 years or never even seen their face

You prove a good point, I never really thought of getting attached after intimacy which would probably explain why I felt I needed to stay with my ex forever due to him being my first. Agree with you :) x.

We waited 9 months, but we were only16 when we started our relationship so it wasn't like we were ready to jump into anything. And we were both virgins so we didn't know what we were missing out on! :P

Well I waited 5 months to make sure I really know him and that I am comfortable with him. I have been with him for 2 years and 2 months now and at least we took our time. We were both virgins and I was 18 and he was 17 when we first met now I am 21 :).

Just don't plan to do have sex, go with the flow. If you plan sometimes you may regret it and you don't want this to happen. Just make sure you are both ready. It just comes naturally when you want to do it. The right moment will come :)

I waited 9 months. Personally I reckon a few months is acceptable. A few weeks I wouldn't consider acceptable, but that's jusy my own opinion. People can do whatever they want :P

No, but people are discussing after how long do they feel 'ready'.

Yes, how long would you wait until you are ready to have sex, which is what I said.

But then still you wouldn't plan this lol?

No, but many people would also agree that they wouldn't have sex on the first date, so the thread is a discussion on when you would feel ready, of course it would change based on each circumstance.

It depends on the circumstance. I have planned before in the past.

*REMOVED*

It's not planning in any way, it's saying how long in a relationship before you'd feel comfortable

Saying 'oh i'd wait 4 months to make sure the relationship is going to last and everything is perfect and whatever' is hardly saying 'on the 14th of March at 4:30 we're having sex'

I agree with whats mainly already been posted.... When your ready and its the right time it will happen.

As long as your not feeling pressured into it or anything then the right time will come.

I waited for 6 months with my current boyfriend and we have been together for two years in March (although admittedly had breaks) and I think that was the right time for me personally. I know for others its completely different, some wait a couple days, some wait weeks/months even years!

Depends on the girl really

Absently

It really depends on the person I'm with and how close I'd know them already, normally I would have said at least a month, but then that'd just be going against what really happened :P If it was someone I never really knew, I would assume it'd take a lot longer. Considering you wouldn't know them very well.

I waited 4 months with my boyfriend.
I think now, if we were to split up and I found someone else i wouldn't wait that long. I was young the first time which made me wait longer but we've now been together for 3 years. woo :)

Inseriousity.

Took me like a month to even kiss my last girlfriend lol so let's have a guess at about a year? :P

lolol whenever the time felt right. I've built up a lot of walls around myself so if I can feel like I don't need those walls to protect me that's when I know I'll be ready.
