Habbox Points then on the post bit it would just say Points: X - I know HxSS uses points but I am sure we can come up with something in regards of that.

Guys, the whole idea behind the shop is so that you can also come up with suggestions we can add to it that the tokens can be used for. We added a few basic ones to get it going but then if anyone has any good ideas then we can look into adding them for you.

Yes! People have a perfectly valid discussion, or you're answering someones question, and then you get told off :'(. Been meaning to post a thread about this for a while.

And didn't Jin say no to a button to turn filter off, as it makes search results look bad with swearing in them, or loads of ****s or something.

definitely agree as well, no point for it at all, if people are posting pointlessly just warn them off that, people should be allowed to say that they also have some on offer, or ask to see it in a room etc

Hi guys, I made a thread in the mod forum asking for discussion on this and putting across my views but then I got snotty / sarcastic replies from Chris and Matt stating that I'm not the forum moderator so I shouldnt be putting across suggestions or getting discussion on points such as this. :(

I find that pretty shameful if thats true.
I agree to some aspect in terms of this rule. I mean if i was selling something and i said i want 30c for it. and someone replied saying how much is it worth, id say they should get a nice pm... personally

Let's get a few things straight shall we? I actually have no problems with the rule being removed but the way you created the thread in the Moderator Forums made out that you was now the Forum Manager. Considering a normal moderator also thought the same as my post in regards of the thread. You can have your own views and get ideas on stuff but there are better ways of doing it.

The actual rule itself can be removed or changed - It does not bother me in the slightest. Also I never indicated in my reply to your thread that you weren't allowed to put suggestions across.

I wasnt imposing my views on anybody, I wasn't forcing anybody to reply nor was I impersonating or trying to be the forum manager. Feel free to move the thread to the public forums for everyone else to see. I don't expect that if I hadn't of made that thread, and now this reply then anything would have been done about the rule and it still might not so indeed - "hey ho".

What do you think this thread was created for? I wasn't going to gather feedback and then do nothing about it. I am deliberately waiting until enough feedback is gathered before any changes are made, because in the past, changes have been rushed and then reversed a few months later which is something I am trying to avoid.

Martin

Oh don't ya just love a smod vs management fight in the public forums LOL PMS GUYS WOO

As I said in the thread, I don't think you can remove the rule completely, since in the past people have abused it, and someone has created that thread purely to sell their stuff, and sometimes when the thread moved onto talking about other stuff it can get in the way and annoy people (theres also a specific forum for discussing the specifics of furni too)

HOWEVER, I do think some lenience and moderator discretion needs to be used in cases like this. If the poster is asking a question which is related to the sale its allowed anyway and has been for as long as I can remember. I think if there are any enquiries about the furniture the OP is selling then it could potentially lead to a sale and so that should be fine in my view. I would say keep the rule, but use a bit of common sense and don't be too hard with it. We have relaxed a lot of areas of moderation and this is one of the old ones that also needs relaxing or people will feel they are in prison :P

What's with the hey-ho :P.

Anyway, I know the trading forums aren't a place for discussion and that there is anything about trading and furni - however, sometimes it's just a bit overly strict, going against Chris recently telling me that the rules are much more relaxed now :P.

MyOffDays; I'll copy what I put in the thread in the mods forum

Personally I like the rule as I would prefer the trading sections to contain ONLY trading posts.

I think he's referring to a post which I edited.. I did so because IMO his post was too general.. How was anyone to know that he was actually interested in the item? For all I (or the several people who reported the post if I remember correctly) knew he was just asking for a value in general..

If people are a showing genuine (and obvious) desire to buy the item then its fine and I wouldn't edit it. If phil had said "yeah I'm interested in the bronze pillow, how much?" then then its clear that he wants the trade.

If you can just say "anyone know the value of.." then I could just go in a random thread now and post that even though I don't play habbo anymore :P

As I've said before, it would be good if there was a like system that worked with the current reputation. Like could just give/take 1 reputation point - meaning rep power does not affect it (or a % of rep power with a minimum of 1). I wouldn't like the current reputation to just suddenly be deleted :P. But then you could give reputation through user profiles - like MyBB, basically.

I think your post said "anyone know the value of" or something like that

Rules should be less strict, if I wanted to I could go into the entertainment forum and post 'Oh yeah, great film' without watching it. I could go into the book clue thread and post 'Yeah, good book!' without reading it. This is surely the same thing... (And at least someone asking the price is more productive than the examples I gave...)

Oh, and of course, if someone wanted to abuse post count, they'd just spam the leaving forum or any of the pointless post topics, Music, Post any image etc. So to stop people asking the price of items is a bit silly given how the rest of the forum is, you're essentially saying discussion isn't allowed which is the whole point of a forum.

Only issue with that would be the entire point in users getting more rep would be destroyed.

It wouldn't affect new users, but what about the users who have been here for years? I'm not sure, but some may have even paid for that rep (sad, sad times...)

I thought it would be a nice idea to compare the pointless posting rule that is mentioned across the two other major fansites. I assume the users on there have no issues in replying to a movie thread and saying: Yeah it was a great movie and getting no edits whatsoever. I am surprised that you can't do it on Habbox to be fair as it's still contributing to the thread. Plus, how would they know if you haven't watched it or not? :P

ThisHabbo:

4. Pointless Posting
Users are not allowed to produce posts which are deemed pointless. For example, replying to a thread with 'lol'. Users who produce posts deemed pointless by our moderation team will be sanctioned for their actions in the form of warnings and infractions.

Pointless and off-topic posting is regarded as posts that do not contribute to the thread topic or the creators intentions.

Yes I am saying that. I can only think of one racist word off the top of my head and I have no objections to that being filitered, I've met a few people on Habbo who use the N (racist) word in a casual manner. There's no issue with such words unless they're clearly used to attack a person constantly.

The problem is we don't have much else to offer as prizes. The only other stuff we could really do is credits and tokens but then the credits would have to be limited on a heavy basis to ensure we don't give out too much at once. To really stop too much VIP being given out is to bring back a system we used to have where only so much VIP could be given out by that specific department. Then use alternative prizes elsewhere.

I had actually thought we still had that rule of how much VIP we could give out each month which is a bit awks but I don't really need to worry about that anyway only giving out 1/2 lots a month
Lol was about to say that, but then the only problem is that it might not seem like it's worth winning - a week or two of VIP does run out very quick. I guess just for some competitions it can be shortened :).

No one noticed about what I said yesterday, so here it goes again. :(

I was replying in a thread where I saw an old signature with a screenie of the Help Desk when I first joined the forum, during the summer of 2011. That made me think about the reason I joined the forum.

I don't know if this has been said or mentioned or anything, but I created a forum account because of that question that used to exist in habbox.com, at the time I joined I clearly remember it was ''How many deck chairs are there in the HxHD?'' and you could win 20 coins from it. I needed coins to make a room so answered the question and joined the forum, and told my friends to do the same.

Wouldn't it get us more members if we brought that back?
Yess, small competitions like this can have huge benefits.

K lets have a 100k post award...

It is pointless keeping having higher, as newer users will just see it and be put off posting. Can't see any reason for more ranks, apart from an increased ego for 2/3 users aha :L

Just my two cents though :)

I know I wouldn't mind cutting the RV suggestion VIP to 2 weeks and adding a credit prize due to it being Habbo based, that could be done for some other departments not all I guess. I still don't know why SNQ don't have a Habbo prize.

The winners are usually always Habbox members and sometimes if they aren't they give the VIP away :P.

In which case it may be suitable for reconsideration in terms of prize. But if they are Habbox members then they may not be interested in Habbo-based prizes (Although rep ought to suffice).

I like the idea of the 20c question of the week or whatever it was called on Habbox.com. Although we'll probably be given the same old generic reply that they're "waiting for V7 before bringing it back" :P

Lol yeah, I wasn't around when that was posted so didn't even know about it. Anyway, I hope v7 comes soon. v6 came out over two years ago and some of the problems with the rare values system that were around then - which me and -danube- were told were to be fixed - are still around now.

See, this is what I don't like, you're laughing at him just because he doesn't know about the badge we had - he's just come back from a break and I'd hate to think if this was a newer user you'd use the same reply. Yeah, lol might not seem much, but no one knows everything and listening to ideas regardless of what they are is good.

I think departments need to come together more, I think those who do better than some should partner up rather than having 2 of the better ones together. For Eurovision events and forum paired up, why not pair them up with say content/graphics/news/rare values and actually bring more publicity to them - you took the two departments that are vital for advertisement to do the event. I don't mind it of course, but you never know what may happen when you take risks, it's the chance you take that also makes Habbox more unique.

Wouldn't mind seeing a new skin created sometime. But only this time, make it blend in with the name of this site "Habbox". I was thinking at the top of the site or maybe on one of the sides, have a big 3D "H" falling into a "Box" (Habbox). Having a skin that blends into the name, makes the atmosphere of the site very well done, with a nice feeling to it.

Yes, me and Martin said above.

Although maybe just change the bad spoiler slightly as suggested. However, I wouldn't find an insect frightening, and many others wouldn't, so it wouldn't be used.

I would suggest just not clicking on threads that could insinuate insects and the like.

Some of you might find it kinda funny to post pictures of insects/spiders and such, but it's not it's absolutely terrifying for some of us. Like if I was to post a picture of someone bleeding to someone who had a blood phobia it wouldn't exactly be the kindest thing in the world...

It does seem quite popular so I've set this up for the duration: http://www.habboxforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1623
Enjoy!

How about this for an addition to the forum.
For doing your signature and obviously you have restrictions for the signature, it should say if your signature is too big or too small and actually not let you save it if it's too big or too small (either way smaller is better at some point but entirely up to whoever would do this)

xx Love Suggesting :D

Probably confused some people ^. Let me know and i'll explain better. xx

I get what you mean, it does the same for avatar and profile pictures too. I'm not sure if it can be done though.

In light of The Mole 2 on the forum, it'd be nice to see more forum based events ran by the forum department like this. Obviously don't do The Mole every month or take it over but games like that to attract people to the forum would be good :D

As different user groups have different size limits, and then some people have multiple usergroups, it'd be complicated to implement and just not worth the effort imo :P.

Just an idea after a conversation with a new member earlier

There's a bit of confusion about new changes, obviously most people here won't have any idea about what it's like being a new member and 9 times out of 10 we get asked questions about signing up we just can't answer - this was about not being able to post a thread until you've posted 5 times or whatever... I don't even understand :(

So yeah, I have no idea what happens when you sign up to the forum, but if it's not done already, I wondered if it would be a good idea if there was like a Welcome to Habbox Forum PM with information about how to get permission to post and to post threads, and to explain about the whole approving posts, and who can approve posts.

Also something I thought about, HabboxForum for Dummies - a simple handbook about how to find certain things and do bits, like buy VIP - I'd be happy to help out with any of these if you were interested!

This would really help out HxHD as we have people ask questions about signing up that we can't answer because it was years ago for some of us. It would be so much easier if we could just relay the information from a thread like this or point them at it so the person asking for help can see it themself.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who doesn't understand it! Especially since they changed it with the approving posts and things, it would be good if there was some kind of guide for it :)

Inseriousity.

I thought there already was. Admittedly Oli implemented it but I'll assume it's been edited by managers since.

www.habboxforum.com/help (http://www.habboxforum.com/help)

okay mistaken, Matt's posted it but Chris has added to it. It says 'guide on how to use habbox forum coming soon' perhaps someone should add that seen as that's what you're talking about mostly.

I think there's one at /guide as well. We can make some changes to both and also the welcome PM to make it more clear for new users.
