I've been with microsoft for some time now but after watching their latest announcement I'm really not impressed. Only decent thing is voice activation & skype. Looks like I may be jumping on the sony boat.

Xbox One. I don't buy used games so I don't care about the current controversy surrounding that, all that means is that I'll have to cancel my Lovefilm which I don't really mind considering most of the games I rent can be bought brand new for peanuts. New controllers looks great, Kinect looks like it may actually be useful this time around and a Blu Ray drive means I don't need to buy a second hand PS3 like I had planned.

Well I am going travelling at the end of this year, so won't be buying either until August 2014. This is excellent, as it gives my friends time to buy one, making the decision easier.

The price means a lot to me, and the games available. Also the gap between call of duty dlc release dates.

Yeah I agree with what you are saying. Wait until all the information is out and then make a decision - Well in regards of the used games business. I know it won't bother me much as I hardly ever buy used games and the only times I remember buying used games ever was for the PlayStation 2.

I mean as in M$ lack exclusives, I don't care for Forza, Halo, Gears or Fable or DLC early for CoD. Where as Sony has released a ton of exclusives Uncharted, Infamous, Killzone, Resistance, Journey, Heavey Rain, Lbp, God of War etc etc which all appeal to me.

And i didn't like how the reveals big finish was "We have CoD" should have shown a new IP.

Hopefully people who have decided on the X1 will reconsider PS4 after E3. 3rd console is always a flop its M$ turn.

The PS3 was a really good product from Sony & I think that it is the right time to release a PS4 now.. But the PS3 has been out for quite long and people have purchased new games etc for it and now they come to drop the "no BC" on us, kinda sucks. Oh and Xbox One.... Nahhhh.. Wont even think of buying it... If it's one thing xbox is actually good for is the multiplayer experience. I've only ever had an xbox (old xbox and 2 360s) and I've never had a playstation...

... but I'm swapping for the PS4.

I don't want this "all in one" machine- I have sky in my room, a computer in my room, all I need is an xbox/ps. If I want TV, I turn the TV on. If I want netflix, I turn the computer on etc.

I don't want kinect, I will never (/rarely) play it.

The PS4 is cheaper which is an instant bonus.

The ONLY bonuses of the xbox for me are halo and the controller. I love halo, and having played on the xbox for years (and not the PS) I'm very used to the controller and hate the playstation ones... However for the PS3, xbox-styled controllers were released so hopefully that will happen with the PS4 too.

If I'm playing a game i don't want to watch tv i watch to play the game. If i want to watch tv i will do so, on my tv.

XB1 isn't the future. Its the future that Microsoft want you to go because if they have a "entertainment" system in everyones homes then think of all the $$$ they will make with all there "tv" features.

The game isn't played by the disk tho is it not? i might have confused over something. But yes has to have an internet connection, can play any game i want freely by putting in the disk and im not forced to have an add on attacked to it that i don't want.

Well, personally, I can chat to my girlfriend from her computer, over my Xbox whilst I continue playing my games. I don't have to go and answer the phone, I think Skype is a great feature. It's not pointless.

I like games like MGS, Uncharted with good storys last thing i want is some body talking to me putting me off my game. If its being used for Online play then sure i just don't find the appeal of being able to see someone over skype while playing my game. I only need to hear them. As you can see by the video above Sony showed off more games and more exclusives. Most of the Xbox reveal was spent talking about TV (Which is only available for US at launch) EA Sports and Call of Duty (both which will be on the Ps4 as well) Microsoft announced 15 Exclusives/8 new IP's and only showed Forza 5/Quantum Break. Sony won polls on who won there console reveals without showing the console itself.

Anyway going to bullet point it all. Reasons why Ps4 is better than XB1

- You don't need an internet connection like the XB1. (Where this may not effect alot of people when i moved house i was internetless for 2 weeks. Ps3 helped cure my boredom)

So potentially losing out on 9 game sales and correct me if I'm wrong but only 1 person can play the game at a time its not like 1 person buys CoD and all 10 can play it. The idea itself is good but i can't see it being favorable with the developers. Time will tell.

Yes buy my TV has 4 HDMI as does my Surround sound. I just push a button on my remote and boom its changed on my tv. Regardless of its on Xbox one or like my tv you will still need to use the PS3/4 controller, there will be no special features aside from being able to put down your controller when your done and say Xbox Tv. I don't mind spending the 2 seconds to press the button on my remote. When Sky/Virgin link up and your able to do some of the stuff the awesome for tv watchers i rarely watch tv so does nothing for me.

Games will be the same price like they have been this gen if not a couple £ difference. Sony have already stated that first party games will be the same price point as the Ps3 £40 and developers won't charge different prices i don't think in case of fan backlash so if a game is £50 on Ps4 Expect it to be £50 on XB1

The benifits you have listed 1. Xbox family does sound like a decent idea but everyone will be making "familys" and developers will be losing potentially x9 games sails per family. 2. HDMI if your like me and don't care about pushing a button to change a system then its not a big benifit. 3. Prices won't be much of a difference

It does what a GAMES console should. That is the main primary feature that a games console should do. It should be able to play new and used games. Any features relating to gaming are welcome like streaming, sharing etc. Anything else you don't need. Sure its handy to have netflix on it but i can also do it on my Laptop. Doesn't make it "the future" because you can watch tv through a box on your tv. There nice features but features that end of the day are pointless if you have other gadgets.

The Wii failed in the later years because it had no good games. It wasn't getting the main 3rd party games and there were no good games for people to play. Most games were kids or party games. Over the last couple years the only game i wanted to play was Zelda. Plus i have a Ps3 that was GIVING me free games every month to play and were bringing out fun exclusives and was getting good 3rd party games.

And the Wii is still more innovative than the Xbox One and Ps4.

Do you how extremely lazy that makes you sound? Also if we use your example, was stuck in a game. The game would be paused while i looked up on what to do and then would direct my attention back to the tv. And my laptop is usually in front of more or slightly to the side. Oh the effort.

I doubt this will change my mind. I chose PS4 because I prefer its exclusive games and because the majority of my friends are PS players. The DRM probably wouldn't have had too much of an effect on me in the first place, but it's nice to have the option of playing offline and trading games freely.

Not at all. They already had cross chat, the whole sharing clips xbox is doing aswell, im sure they will have some phone > Xbox stuff. Just the main thing there are trying to push is tv and its not as awesome as they make it sound. it does nothing for gaming and i don't like it. Just like the kinect when it came out. It was mostly gimicky party games that came out nothing that was promised when it was first revealed.

Sure you've used this example already. The Ps3/4 uses a Blu ray drive to read games why shouldn't they allow it to read disks for films and music? And the difference is we're not putting a blu ray into a player to then connect it up to the ps4 to then display it on your tv.

Like i said before these were useful. instead of carrying a planner around with you can do it on your phone and with a clock you can set an alarm something you can't do on most wrist watches. There are all improvements no one is sitting wishing for a something that gets between you and watching something on tv.

With the XB1, you can just say TV, and it will switch to your TV feed. I can't do that right now, so I say that's an improvement for me. I'd definitely take voice activated TV rather than having to scroll through the different outputs on my TV with my remote.

Microsoft revealed the console and said nothing but tv tv tv tv tv tv tv tv and when i got to games it was bloody EA. You don't announce a new GAMES console then start talking about TV.

I'm not arguing over evolving and doing more features. I'm complaining that they announced it as a new games console and spoke about TV. I'll say it again. TV. It's not in the UK at launch but will be within the next year or so. They way they handled the reveal is all wrong. They were going at it as if the TV function was the Primary reason for buying a the console and not for the games.

People would do it but they would have handled it better than Microsoft. They should have done it as follows
- Talk about the achievements with the 360
- Reveal Xbox
- Talk about the console itself and the new interface
- A Sequel for people to wow over the graphics so Forza for example
- Bring in EA to talk briefly about w.e
- Mention some other features and mention the you can plug in your cable box to watch tv aswell
- Say about exclusives and there new IP's and show a couple of them.
- Call of duty
- Finish on Halo teaser (You tease it so people talk and come E3 when they announce one the 2nd one comes as a suprise)

Never worked for me when i tried it so never used it again.


Thing is i rarely watch tv as it is. Its the principle that Msoft came out and tried to ram down the Xbox one as some revolutionary device to watch tv on and neglected to talk about the games they just brought out EA and Cod and went meh.

Theres nothing wrong in adding other features to the console as long as the don't neglect the fact that at the forefront it is a Games Console and shouldn't try to change it into something else just so they can drag people into there new "vision of the future" If they want to make a box to compliment the tv then fine but call it some thing else. The 2 options where put out for people and people chose not to follow Microsoft and there vision because people don't like it, don't need it and don't want it. And now that majority have went to Ps4 they have gone back on there policies not because of feedback but because Microsoft's plan failed. If they had announced that the Xbox One would replace all your multimedia devices and your cable box then they might have been onto something and the name might have made more sense. Then having a true All in One device might have been a bit more appealing. Anyway I'm ranting so going to finish it here.

The lack of decent games were down to the adoption rate being quite low in terms of kinects to 360 ratio. I reckon now every console will have it, it's a definite that a few decent games come out (Hopefully a boxing game) Literally just had the idea for a free multiplayer kinect game. Quickdraw, basically like the old west quickdraw malarkey, with kinect :) You get 5 seconds countdown, then you "draw" and shout bang as fast as possible, whilst getting it on target :) :) :) :)

Agreed. Nintendo are the only company really innovating in the industry. Whether or not they are succeeding is another debate :P The PS4 and Xbox One are not innovative in comparison, they're simply improving on their current business model by upping the power and offering re-worked services e.g. PSN and Xbox Live. Nintendo are trying to change the way we play games, focusing on controllers with the Wii U, and how we use them. The second screen is an amazing idea, but it needs the damn backing of developers to get anywhere :P Sony and Microsoft innovated with the Move and Kinect, but this generation doesn't appear to have anything.

The thing with Kinect is that it has potential to be really cool, but all the games made for it thus far have just been utter ****. Even that Fable game was so awkward to play. If Kinect 2 is better at picking up motion then fair enough, but Kinect 1 just wasn't sensitive enough (beyond jumping, crouching etc)
Precisely and that's why it's a gimmick and not a revolution. There's no real money to made in Kinect games so developers are reluctant to invest time and money into making Kinect games.

Pretty silly not introducing a headset but if the Kinect is as good as they say it is then really you only need headphones to plug into your TV (if you don't want people hearing your friends) and you're good to go. For me, I don't mind because I'm going to get a separate headset anyway, so it's just one less thing to sit in the box forever.

But the main reminder that even though we got the PS4price, we did not get to see the User Interface. For Xbox One, on the other hand the User Interface

This console is about more than just games, the potential truly amazes me, but apparently I am the only one.
Honestly, if MS makes this thing easy for game dev's to harness (which they obviously will do there upmost to achieve), there is no reason why dev's would not optionally integrate motion control into gameplay if it can improve the experience.
For games which require the Kinect, you got it, it has to be plugged in for the system to work, there is your 100% Xbox ONE audience right there, you don't have to worry your game might be a massive flop and convince investors it wont be because only 20% of ONE's have a Kinect, go nuts, be creative, do something that has never been done.
When they first unveiled the ONE prior to E3, it totally blew me away, I did not worry about gaming because what is a console? a powerful graphical computer? (check) a decent controller? (check) and what else? What else can this console do? what tools has it provided for dev's to innovate with in the future? ******* cloud computing (which will only become more amazing with the spread of fibre optic) motion and voice control.....**** MS, you got it so right I can hardly even stand it and this is coming from a ******* MAC FANBOY, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

First issue that comes to mind here is that mostly females buy exercise DVDs, mostly males are going to buy a £430 console.

The PS4 are scrapping including the camera thing (their "less evil" version of Kinect I guess) with every console. Price still remains the same.
