Excellent story what a mentalgent, 89 year old war veteran smuggled his medals out in the inside of his overcoat and boarded a bus to France without telling anyone :P

What massive ***** at a carehome would deny the guy this trip.

Loved reading this story because he managed to get out and join in with the memorials. Hate that a carehome would stop someone going to this when he was clearly capable of going. Seeming as he got his self there.

I think my heart kinda just sunk in happiness - I don't see why the care home wouldn't of granted him with permission anyway to go and celebrate it!
Most of these war veterans may not even be alive to see another year of dday remembrance in 2015

I am loving that this story has gone national and is getting TV time, it's such a simple pleasure but it's so ridiculously endearing :P it came on while I was in a pub earlier and literally every group of people at their tables/at the bar started talking about how happy the story made them
