A BLOCKADE of the Port of Dover is being planned for Saturday in support of lorry drivers’ concerns over illegal immigrants.
A group called Support the Calais to Dover Truckers have listed a number of reasons for the demonstration – including stopping Isis terrorists and the Ebloa virus getting into Britain.
But Kent Police have warned “wilful obstruction of a highway is an offence”.
The planned protest comes after the mayor of Calais, Natacha Bouchart, threatened to blockade the French port unless Britain does more to help deal with the growing migrant issue.
Dover MP Charlie Elphicke said: "We don't need a barmy blockade, whether it's the brainchild of the mayor of Calais or anyone else."
A Port of Dover spokesman said: “Over the next few days we will be monitoring the situation to ensure that we can deal with any planned protests in the safest and most constructive way.”
Natalie Chapman, from the Freight Transport Association, told the BBC: “We completely understand the frustration of drivers who feel they are being used as scapegoats in what is a desperate situation.
“Our understanding is that they're looking at using lorries to blockade the Port of Dover. It has potential to cause huge disruption.
“However, we just don't think that this is the right way to resolve this situation.”
She added that some lorry drivers were having to take out personal loans to pay the fines.
The blockade is set to run from 1pm on Saturday to 5pm on Sunday.

It's sad that immigration issues like those at Dover are being overlooked by our own government..
