Default Plan to BLOCKADE Port of Dover this Saturday over illegal immigration fears

A BLOCKADE of the Port of Dover is being planned for Saturday in support of lorry drivers’ concerns over illegal immigrants.

A group called Support the Calais to Dover Truckers have listed a number of reasons for the demonstration – including stopping Isis terrorists and the Ebloa virus getting into Britain.

But Kent Police have warned “wilful obstruction of a highway is an offence”.

The planned protest comes after the mayor of Calais, Natacha Bouchart, threatened to blockade the French port unless Britain does more to help deal with the growing migrant issue.

Dover MP Charlie Elphicke said: "We don't need a barmy blockade, whether it's the brainchild of the mayor of Calais or anyone else."

A Port of Dover spokesman said: “Over the next few days we will be monitoring the situation to ensure that we can deal with any planned protests in the safest and most constructive way.”

Natalie Chapman, from the Freight Transport Association, told the BBC: “We completely understand the frustration of drivers who feel they are being used as scapegoats in what is a desperate situation.

“Our understanding is that they're looking at using lorries to blockade the Port of Dover. It has potential to cause huge disruption.

“However, we just don't think that this is the right way to resolve this situation.”

She added that some lorry drivers were having to take out personal loans to pay the fines.

The blockade is set to run from 1pm on Saturday to 5pm on Sunday.

It's sad that immigration issues like those at Dover are being overlooked by our own government..

Considering these immigrants are being violent and jumping into the back of lorries (where the fine goes down to the lorry driver as they are the ones carrying them! - if they haven't hijacked the lorry at all) - something needs to be done about it.

The government couldn't give a toss and because of that everyone is suffering - yet they go on about how they're doing whatever they can to stop terrorist attacks.

FABULOUS GOVERNMENT, now go jump off a block of flats. xx

Since when are they being violent? All I've seen evidence of is them jumping on trucks when they're stopped, not threatening the driver to let them jump on the truck.

I agree that they shouldn't be fined for it though, especially when it's not their fault.

It's a difficult situation. Fining drivers, both British and international, is completely unfair as it shouldn't be their job to police and be security at the same time when making the crossing. The French and British Governments need to work together to sort this, as it's not fair on the French to do quite a lot of the work - their target is us afterall, not them.

    DEPORT them all immediately.

If you deport and refuse to grant asylum/rights to settle full stop then they'll stop coming. Copy Australia.

My favourite was when I was watching UK Border Force (what borders!?) and literally could not believe my eyes. A guy from some tinpot country someplace in Africa was claiming he was 16, was clearly over 30.... so what did our border 'control' do? Put the guy up in a London house for the week whilst his story was checked to be accurate or not. The show closed saying he disappeared that night.

My jaw dropped, not that he'd disappeared: but that this was actually the level of stupidity by the state.

Should get rid of them asap, no letting them stay for any amount of time.

If their story needs to be checked out, they can get the hell out of the country while it's being checked out.
