Just bought a...

Hey,

I was at the shops today, and i bought the nVidia 8500GT Super+ 1GB 128bit DDR2, with Dual-link DVI and TV-Output.

For just 45 pounds. I can't put it in yet because im not at home (On holiday xD) And I was wondering if its good because i have a Dell Inspiron with a 300W PSU.

It should run, however if there was the option of getting the 512MB version for cheaper, you should have gone with that.

There was only the 1GB which i think is good :D

I read up on site that the 512 was getting bottlenecked due to lack of memory so im glad i got the 1GB version and i saw i can play crysis and cod4 etc on it i was like :o :o :o :o

The 8500Gt doesn't need 1GB. It's not a particularly good card.

You could play crysis on the 6800 with 256MB, playing it well is another thing. ;)

Ive watched a video on youtube that someone with a 8500GT playing crysis on good-very good settings.

i have the same card but the 512mb version... its fairly decent...

however i would of personally went the extra £5 and got the 9500GT (the replacement card for the 8500 and the 8600).. but thats just me.

youll also need to consider buying a new PSU (Power Supply Unit) as mine old PSU was a standard 300w PSU and believe me theres no chance it would of run the graphics card....

so unless you want problems, upgrade your PSU :)

300w is perfectly fine for the 8500GT.
