We are dealing with teenagers who are an extremely tempramental and hormonal age group; expecting them to act like good, mature adults is like taming a lion for the most part. It's difficult. There is a small proportion of people who actually are decent, and I daresay there's a few on Habbox. I'm rather cynical when it comes to making online "friendships" because proximity of the obvious dilemma, but I honestly believe that there are a few people here who I would regard as pretty good "friends", so arguably the Habbo Community isn't all lost.
I would also argue that the Habbo Community has been like this since the beginning. I first signed up in 2005 and the site has been flooded with individuals (outlined above) for the whole time. We can't generalise everyone and claim there's been a huge change in attitude, simply because it's too difficult to define "mean" and it's wrong to put a label on everyone.
We can't change the Habbo population, but we can change ourselves. That's the first step.
