    Default The Habbo community.

When the Layout changed I actually noticed that Habbo had a forum [Yes, I never saw it :/]
I decided to go around looking at half of the threads.
I did come across a thread that was rather 'mean'. Yes, I know that they eventually get removed but most of the time not fast enough that people get to read it.

This made me think about the Habbo community and how much it has actually changed from the younger years of Habbo.

Yes, I agree that every one has the freedom of speech but some people take it far and it affects the community that we are playing/chatting in.
What I want to know is, what do you think of the Habbo Community itself? (This ranges from the Habbo forums to the Habbo rooms)

    Oh I see, well I'm going to go all moody here and say that quite a lot of people on the game **** me off to the absolute limit and I really don't like hanging out in busy rooms - there'll always be someone there who's doing something annoying. Whether it be;

"Oh em gee, d8 me knfx - gives out msn- xxxx"
" -spam -spam -spam -spam -spam"
    "CAPS LOCK ADDICT ALERT!"

or "**** you, ******* ****, go **** yourself you ****" - Random swearing, when people think they're "hard" online. All of those annoy me so much and they're just so common now - especially people asking for each others MSN or webcam in random rooms, with bloody strangers? Of course, I've only used Habbo for just over 3 yrs so I can't say how it was before that - but there's definitely a lot of younger members playing the game now and I completely dislike it. I've met someone who was 7 playing the game, and I simply ask myself "why?" - Habbo is fine for teens, and I suppose there's little harm in a 12 yr old signing up - but children playing the game is ridiculous.

Really big peeve for me in the community, is these people who think they are "e-famous". Sorry, but this is a virtual game... you are not famous on a virtual game, and even if you think you are - don't expect me to kiss your feet and give you special treatment? Behind the computer screen you're a normal person x.x

Now onto the lighter side. Although quite a lot **** me off, I've managed to meet a small number of people who are actually amazing friends and probably some of the kindest people I've met on the game - it genuinely shocks me when someone manages to make me smile on Habbo because it's just so rare for me aha, if someone on Habbo can make me laugh in real - they've done incredibly well.

The entire community isn't horrible - and to be honest, I actually like quite a lot of people on this forum (hence why I now spend more time on the forum than on Habbo) - they are usually decent members of the community and I'm quite glad I met them to be honest. But there are a large number of people on Habbo who literally just ruin the game x.x

I haven't played habbo since the Habbo BETA client came in. As soon as that came out I left due to the fact that the community has changed way too much. And now it's too confusing

Regardless of whether the Habbo Community is "mean" or not, the bottom line is that we can't change it. Whilst it would be amazing if everyone watched My Little Pony and listened to The Beatles like hippies from the 1960s, I somehow don't think it's going to happen. We are dealing with teenagers who are an extremely tempramental and hormonal age group; expecting them to act like good, mature adults is like taming a lion for the most part. It's difficult. There is a small proportion of people who actually are decent, and I daresay there's a few on Habbox. I'm rather cynical when it comes to making online "friendships" because proximity of the obvious dilemma, but I honestly believe that there are a few people here who I would regard as pretty good "friends", so arguably the Habbo Community isn't all lost.

I would also argue that the Habbo Community has been like this since the beginning. I first signed up in 2005 and the site has been flooded with individuals (outlined above) for the whole time. We can't generalise everyone and claim there's been a huge change in attitude, simply because it's too difficult to define "mean" and it's wrong to put a label on everyone.

We can't change the Habbo population, but we can change ourselves. That's the first step.

When I played it, the majority was great. I also loved how there seemed to be "famous" habbos who used to get gossiped about etc, at least a few people I know did gossip and talk about them. I know someone who was paticularly addicted to merf and lerf or some people like that, left quite a while ago now (please remind me of their names if you know who I'm talking about ). No one really fought or argued back then I would say, apart from the stupid rooms like adoptions and crap.

But there's always a bits of turds in the toilet.

I just realised I went off on a tangent (I think), in terms of speech there used to be people who would flood like hell so in that respect it's much better.

I agree that we can't change people, that wasn't my point at all.
When I meant by "Mean" I meant as that it was harmful for certain people, not generally for everyone. It would of be a defined group as such that could of got harmed.
