@Saurav, when I was in the mod dept, I didn't pass because I always looked at the context and therefore didn't get as many logs as a trialist should have (probably too lenient actually but that's a different story). If there are targets, I ironically think it's very human for people to act robotic and only aim for the thing that will add a +1 to their logbook.

Well every mod knows mod logs matter. Its whats looked at as one of the main things when looking for a new smod. Management can deny it, but its that attitude which annoys me, they think we are stupid.

However, you're not suggesting a suitable and quantitative measure of keeping track of moderators? Sure, maybe it makes them jump on everything that they can get away with (size of people's signatures being very common, for example) but it's also the only thing they have atm to allow management to say 'yes, he's doing good', 'oh he's not doing so good'. It's insane to suggest that managers keep an eye on their staff 24/7, its just not possible so there needs to be a quantitative measure to combat that. The same way events use 'number of events', hxhd use 'number of hours spent behind desk', comps use 'number of entries' etc. So suggest an alternative that they could use realistically :)

Well so if you were moderating Graphics and people stopped breaking the rules in there, you mod logs will be low and you will fail. They need to start looking at the quality of the edits etc. How many mod logs other mods in the same section have and if those logs are ott or what.

First I'm sure there was a glitch or staff members made their ponts to something like 1mil+.

Also, people were just using it to spam, to get their points up, which made them the top of the 'Rich Members' list which applied to the points.

Then, the points kept increasing but there was no awards with it as it had been disabled.

As people have said it's hard to monitor.

There wasn't any way of cheating on my forum's points system. It was only in testing and all points were cleared at the end of the testing back to 0. During testing it was much easier to get points and points were given out by management. It was as I said, testing. Once it was taken back to 0 and introduced properly, it was fairly successful but there was a lot more planned to be introduced but which never got done completely.

On Habbox, I think a points system would be good but it depends how it would work, how you get points etc. Until I know that, I can't really make much comment on whether it will be succesful or not :P

Well you could give points for anything, because the Award system caters for that, and funnily enough the Awards system has a points system built in.

I'm fully in favour of any points related loyalty scheme style service on the forum. It'd help get new members in, and most of all, itll make them want to stay.

On the contrary, the system I introduced a long time ago means that Moderators don't get to see the amount of logs they receive and they are rated on logs on a tiered system. Even then, the system is modified accordingly to monthly forum activity and does not determine the overall rating / comments the Moderator receives. Other matters are taken into account, such as interactivity with forum members and posting, reports to Super Moderators, and the quality of infractions given. Gone are the days where Moderators were judged purely on the amount of logs they achieve and Forum Management for a long time now have been much more involved in the more qualitative features surrounding a Moderator.

Even in the days where Moderator logs were the defining feature that distinguished a Moderator from others, it comes down to whether that Moderators decisions (and therefore logs) affected you. I achieved well over 1000 logs in one of my reports, and yet I was considered an excellent Moderator by those who spoke to me! Why - because they liked me and didn't begrudge me when I fairly penalised them or, I didn't penalise them because they didn't break any rules and they loved me because I only targeted those who broke the rules.

But of course when you (i.e. anyone, not just you, Saurav) get dealt with by a Moderator they instantly become a failure, desperate to gain as many logs as possible so as to ensure promotion or passing of a trial. Has it ever occurred to anyone that these Moderators are simply learningor even more surprisingly, they're actually correct and you just don't like the fact you've got an infraction?!

Something to consider, perhaps.

This is like what club tropica uses?
Its a good idea but hard to implement i guess
