Maybe she lied as she knows you might be disappointed in her? I probably would do the same if it was to someone like my parents as it's the worst kind of thing to feel.
Maybe telling her is the best thing, you could tell her that you're not angry with her or anything, or disappointed in her, just a bit shocked that she felt that she had to lie to you! You're her friend she should be able to tell you anything, and if it's something that could destroy your friendship then no wonder she wouldn't tell you, just take it slow.
