But it's not a stereotype, since when did a stereotype exist where scottish people were all tramps? I mean that makes no sense, how could a country exist like that!?
The Scottish are seen to "leach" of the rest of Britain as they want to be independent in every way apart from when they stop taking money out of the English pot, the same goes for Wales just the welsh accept that they couldn't exist without Britain. I'm not trying to be rude but that's the way it is.
Spending per head is higher in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland than it is in England thats a fact - despite that England foots most of the bill which has led to division because we increasingly see ourselves as Scottish/Welsh or English rather than British. Now where this has mainly come from is devolution, a terrible policy enacted by the last Labour government (and while the useless Conservatives stood by as they always do) which is leading to resentment and which will lead to the eventual breakup of the Union unless it is rolled back as it should be.
I take the Enoch Powell view which was spot on, that if these countries want their own parliaments then they should simply be independent because otherwise all it becomes is a federal subsidy machine from England to the other countries. A referendum should be held, asking the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish whether or not they want to remain a part of the United Kingdom (thus scrapping devolution) or keep their parliaments and become independent. As a Unionist I would like them to stay with us, however its time to put the issue to bed once and for all. It is from the above that we have got ourselves into this situation where we have teenagers and so forth now arguing about devolution which was sold at the time as a way to solve slight differences, not make them worse as anyone with a thnking brain could have seen.
In terms of myself, I see myself as British.
I was unaware that any of these nations were differing races from one another, last time I checked we were all mainly caucasian?Quote:

I think people just like to be patriotic, and that naturally clashes from time to time but that's the norm.
Speaking as a Canadian I'd have to say I'm pretty indifferent as to what to think about the UK because naturally I've never lived or been there.
A lot of Canadians would, sure, but that's because in retrospect America is a lot bigger than Canada, I think most Canadians would get angry at being called American because they don't think anyone thinks about Canada when we're right next to such a large superpower.
Some people are just too politically minded and take it too far, it's not right, and its kinda sad, they're robbing themselves of adolescence... but whatever tickles their pickle :)
