English - rest of britain divide?

Hey!

Today I've noticed a few un-named members of our forum have particularly offensive views on other parts of 'Britain'.

I was just wondering what the general public thought of the divide that seems to be represented by some fanatic members? Do they agree? What's their opinion? Do they feel it's acceptable to be racist/unfair against someone just for their WHOLE country?

he's a male and iirc he used to work for a scottish member (awfy) but was lazy as **** so got fired, prob holds a grudge lol

most of the time the jibes are just jokes between friends but how often do you see someone scottish/welsh/irish insult someone for being english? it's impossible because as there are so many you say one little thing about england then everyone will join in with everything wrong with scotland. like in the whole scottish referendum and stuff it was just "let them have their independance then they can rot" or whatever. i'm not expecting the english to defend scotland obviously but idk, it feels like england vs the rest and it's kinda annoying..... i don't see why where i'm from has to be used as an insult by people who don't even know me (obv i don't exp this irl )........... wish i never told anyone lol

We don't make choices, our devolved government does; with restricted powers. They continuously state we should be independent but they forget we've never had the chance to voice our own opinion on the matter (referendum, thanks Alec all you do is promise but never dish out!) and they forget their government wants to hold onto us, hold onto our revenues and our assets- not just us clinging onto the apron strings.

Might I add, I'd like independance but it's not right for anyone?

He can't do much though because he was a minority government, harder to pass laws etc but maybe that'll change.
Anyway yeah I agree plus if England had their free education etc they would lap it up too lol
meh i'm just saying if someone uses 'scottish' to insult me (which i don't mind unless you're doing it to offend me) and i report it i want it to be dealt with now... idc if i "can't take a joke" or whatever. i got infracted once for saying canadians were ugly so i want mine to be dealt in the same way...

I think a few of the members have more extreme views than others but it is in the minority.
It has more to do with them believing the negative stereotypes that attach themselves to
each country really which is is a bit 'brain numbing' as Britain as a whole is a mix of all nationalities and race. If the truth be known it could also be said of everywhere except the south east of england if it is based on socio economics. A selfish view in my opinion as a high proportion of people pay taxes in all parts of Britain. Also because Scotland and Wale's priorities are Health and Education it means that there is less money going elsewhere. An example of this is waiting lists which are much higher than England.

check out my fred in tv/film, that made my mind up about scottish people, totes should become a separate nation, giving us english a bad name.

Did you really just minus rep me for this comment Cassnova, too funny. I'm sure it's clear to most that the comment was made in jest. Add seriousness to Scottish people's bad qualities.

I think it is standard for people to stereotype others though and give little jibes about each others countries. Could I give some examples (don't bother -repping, since two of these will be against me too ...)

1) Americans are all fat
2) Spanish are all lazy
3) English drink tea all day
4) Australians sit by BBQ's all day
5) Japanese are polite but mad
6) French are rude

I think saying some members are 'fanatics' is really justified either.

Sorry if I got the wrong end of the stick on this though
