Not really, it's an online community you go on to talk to your friends when they're at home and not up for going out. I only really go on there to catch up with people I am friendly with who I met on Habbo and don't want to add to my MSN or to mess around with friends I know in real life. If people mock you about going on a RPG online game, then they're quite sad for suggesting you have no social life when you're using a site for what it was originally created for.
I don't treat Habbo as a hobby, but I look at the bigger picture. Some people do treat it as a hobby and if they enjoy it, then so be it. Also, you can play console games and talk about them to people on Habbo or on this forum. You're real life friends may not be the only ones who know what a PS3 is or what SSBB is...
Its basically upto you wen u want to quit!
scientists found that games such as runescape did have a good fact for teaching kids how to be patient and keep to long goals
Let me start by saying.. I've been playing on and off since 2001. Do I have friends? Yes. Do I participate in rl things? Yes. Am I on my computer 24/7 playing Habbo? No. Do I dream of Habbo? No.
I also recently took some stupid online quiz thing about "How Addicted are you to Habbo?" and my results were "Non player or ex-player"
Habbo doesn't ruin lives. It's your fault for becoming addicted. If you turn down some social event because you're trying so hard to get that next throne, that's your fault. All Sulake has done is create a product that is clearly accepted by thousands of young teens, and they're smart when it comes down to it.
At spending money - They don't force you to. In fact, it's even easier to NOT spend money these days then it was 2, 3 and maybe 4 years ago since they have created credits as a tradeable item. I've gotten a few thrones worth.. have I paid? Nope.
At the staff member thing.. I'd say it's all about who you are personally. Some people would see Brad Pitt walking down the street and be like *REMOVED* ITS BRRADDD DOMFOMGOMOGMGOMGOM WHERES ANGELINA!!1/?!?!!??! would I? No. Staff members, just like celebrities are only people. If you think that you need to scream and jump for joy when they say 'hello' to you, then that's on you.

I admit I've wasted away some of my life on Habbo and I really regret it. I could have learned guitar, got good at football, gone out with friends more than I did and taken school a lot more seriously
Once again, that's on you. I'm doing fine this year in school.. in fact I'm probably doing better then I've ever done. Do I occasionally play Habbo? Yeah. It's all about you. YOU need to set limits for yourself. YOU need to know when to stop playing. It's all about YOU, not Habbo.
I don't really see how you can say "None of your rl friends would play Habbo" when Habbo has.. what? 7000-9000 people on everyday? That's just the UK Hotel.. nevermind CA and USA
So in closing, Habbo doesn't ruin lives. People seriously need to stop blaming Habbo and Sulake for this. They never forced you to play, it was your own choosing.
