Out of date when put to any logical thought process, but sadly not to law. Germany is the only country I know of where a woman can actually be charged with rape rather than the "lesser" offence of sexual assault, and it's just ridiculous

Moral points, such as the view of the traditional family and other sexual practices. My point is simply that when you shake a set of cultural values around too much - certain taboos such as this also risk becoming 'normalised' even when they should not be. But of course arguing they shouldn't be normalised becomes weakend by the fact that because other values in that religious culture have been eroded so fast, nobody pays attention to objections coming from that area anymore. I just give the example of how Church values have been eroded over the past 50 or so years.

Basically, erode the foundations of something - and the whole house will cave in.

I still think that I'm an atheist. Surely before the 10 commandments there were people who followed a good life morally. As people have mentioned morality and religion don't always have to go together. You only have to look at some catholic priests who apparently are religious yet they have sex with underage kids often without consent. Not to mention the kids are usually boys, when according to the church god is against gays.

My point is that sometimes atheists break less rules than actual religious key people so I think the problem here isn't really on religion but just general upbringing. My family isn't religious (although I was christened) but I was taught what was right and wrong and they also set by example.
