That's odd, Take a Break magazine this week has a similar story although different ages and they're both legal. Anyway, basically he was a school boy, or just left and he's now 19 I believe and they're expecting a child, it shows that no matter where in the world you are it is occurring and happening. What could be done to stop it though?

Another case where its shown that morality isn't a natural occurrance and that it does, whether atheists like it or not, come from religious teachings.

The way trends are going in the west with the decline and trashing of Christianity, expect more of it.
Really it comes from teaching in general religious or not. I'm an atheist and I think this is wrong but then you don't have to be religious to agree with the basic principles of the 10 commandments minus the god stuff e.g. don't kill, don't steal etc.

Technically if he's of legal age nothing can be done to stop it and nothing should be done really. 19 is fair enough because he's at the age to understand everything and be able to make his own decisions (depending on the age the relationship actually began). Yeah it's a bit different and not something I would do but when you compare it to a parent and an 11 year old who probably doesn't know what he's gotten himself into then its very different.

I hope you've never in your life disobeyed your parents in any way then, as that is tantamount to murder according to the 10 Commandments

Who hasn't disobeyed their parent. I follow the general jist. I keep away from trouble, try to be nice all the time and so on. It's all about upbringings really most of the time

I agree, that's my point - although many in the west call themselves atheists, they aren't truly atheist because we're still following basic Christian teachings on morality. The problem is, and the problem I see with things like this arising, is that the more Christian morals that are overturned the more fluid general morality becomes and we're then led to a dangerous place - especially involving children.

Which Christian moral teaching has been overturned here then? Are you just trying to shoehorn your 'not as good as it was since the 60s ruined everything' worldview in because I don't see how it's relevant here? All I see is a woman has abused and exploited a young child, which is just one of those sad things in both our and past societies that the majority of people condemn, whether they're religious or not.

Do you know what the word atheist means because it definitely has nothing to do with morality

Hmm, seems strange of New Zealand to have such an out-dated law. It's strange, because their views on equality would of made you think this story was false, yet this story proves their rape legislation is pretty out of date.
