Rare Value Desk

indeed, however as they are adamant about making their own and making it work i think it should link to hxhd

Atleast if it links to HxHD when people go in and its empty the people will see the teleporter, go to HxHD and get the help they need in there instead of getting none, and also same happens in hxhd, if someone comes in hxhd asking a question about rare values they can be directed to the teleporter if people are in the rare values desk and get better assistance from the rare values staff.

But i still agree about them not needing their own room :P

Usually we can answer most if not all queries concerning rare values in the help desk. If helping users with value problems is such a necessity beyond what HxHD staff can provide, surly it would be more appropriate to to just sit some rarevalue staff in HxHD and they can take a swing at whoever needs value help? I'm not sure I quite understand why we would split this into two desks, when we could incorporate it into HxHD as it is. It would sure make room popularity a lot more simple.

I have requested a teleporter from Jin and hopefully they can be linked sometime soon.

Quite honestly I think the Help Desk has always had a problem having any sort of 'rival' because I remember not too long ago the thing actually shut down because it was empty all the time so that is no reason to stop other projects just because HxHD already exists. If enough efforts put into it [the Rare Values Desk] (which upto now we haven't put enough in at all) then it can easily become better than the Help Desk, and I would remember seeing as I ran it successfully during 2007 in which people still come up to me and tell me how they remember how the Desk actually gave them help.

It wasn't like HxHD where its often just people talking and one person comes in every hour and asks for help while staff are abused/the room is flooded; we actually couldn't talk about other things because of all the questions and interest (and no, quite honestly that is not made up). In the Values Department we really see the need and feel the need to 'connect' with the hotel once again, as at the moment and for the past few years its lost that contact with the hotel and its traders.

A successful rare values room is achieveable and does work, as proven by past examples and we are going to try one final time. I think Values staff want more action and hopefully this will bring them more together as a department also, as it should be.

I don't seem to recall when the Help Desk shut down. The only serious time when it did was two years ago when desk ownership went from 8freak8 to Nvrspk4. Over the previous months the activity in the help desk has been upto our standards and expectations.

If you've been in the help desk some time in the past month or so you'll see that that's no longer the case. It's 2 in the morning right now and there's people in here (including you, actually and you're not being abused at all:P)

I'm just disappointed that you feel you cannot do that with a pre-existing department which has a good enough atmosphere and would suit the needs accordingly. I still feel that Habbox does not need two help desks.

Thats the mentality HxHD has had and still has it seems. Its a choice to see it as rivalry, we just see it as meeting our own departments needs which in the past has been proven works. Not only this, but recently and over time the rare values department as a department has been growing apart and I think a desk will bring it back together again, as a team.

At times it nearly has and has at points in its history had many calling for its closure because it no longer functions as it used to, i've always been against closing it and still am. However I do not believe that a desk is the sole right of the HxHD department and no other.

Its not as bad as it used to be granted, but staff have often been abused in there although i'm glad it now seems rules have been relaxed in there, which has lifted that problem considerably. The fact is, people come to HxHD to chat and for something to do, they dont come there for advice on rare values and so on.

The fact is it doesnt suit the needs, its on a totally different chart rather than Trading, people wouldnt think to go there for values help and the atmosphere is wrong I feel. On the number of desks, does it really matter? - and hey, as shown by the past example of my former help desk it can only help Habbox because it puts the values team back in spotlight which gains the trust of people, aswell as placing Habboxs presence in an area of which it has been slipping in for a long time (trading in general). If people know who are behind the values and how it works, they trust a system much more and at a time when Habbox has been losing visitor numbers thats vital to solve.

As I said earlier, we'll give it one more go and I think we can make it work.

I can see your reasoning for why you want such a desk, because I've seen how team work brings HxHD staff together. Again, I am just saddened that you don't wish to better incorporate your idea with our pre-existing help desk.

I see no reason why we would consider closing the help desk, and it still serves the function it used to to an extent.

No but if rarevalue reporters started using the room more, and we changed the name of the room to something like [HxHD] With Rarevalues then I'm sure after a short period of time we would have a reputation better associated with the rarevalues department.

I'm sorry, I just can't see how it can better Habbox when it would obviously be competing with one of our own departments:P

I went in there and it was empty! I didn't even know it was there untill i saw a banner on Habbox for it. So agreed it should be closed

What I don't get is, with a rare values desk, you're not going to have people coming in all day asking about one subject; rare values. With HxHD we help in all areas so we get tons of people coming in for help. You'll probably get 1 person a day coming in and asking for help. Which is why it seems absolutley pointless to me. If staff are in there most of the day then surley they aren't reporting rare values which is mainly their job.

Wrong, becauuse its been proven in the past we do. Rare Values have a far greater potential pull than the Help Desk does and ever has had, just because we [Habbox] have a Help Desk already for general help doesnt mean that no other department can run its own desk/room/event which it finds helps it, especially as Rare Values are considered the main pull for Habbox. The desk, if successful like it has been in the past - can work and has worked before. We want to make it work again hence why we're giving it one more shot.
