I think it's a lot to do also with my failure (and this probably goes for other newish members too) to interact a lot in spam for example with other members.
One example, when I took part in Habbox: The Mole everyone knew everyone and was sort of cliqued together but I didn't really know anyone bar one person. Half blamed on the non-inclusive community, half blamed on my failure to try and interact. If that makes sense.
but OT I am content with with what I post and think joining this forum has benefited me.
by hardcore he means me
I said this yesterday when Gina asked, Habbox has completely changed my life, I discovered graphics because of being here, through that I've just developed those skills and now both of my real life jobs are to do with graphics, one as a graphics designer and one as a subeditor (designing page layouts for a newspaper, which came from graphics turning into graphics manager at student media, turning into design & layout).
I got involved in my student media because I loved being News manager so much, and that's done amazing things and given me fantastic opportunities too, really got my name out there if I wanted to go into that, too.
And then you've got the freelance stuff I'm actually building a proper portfolio too, making logos, website designs (less of this though), and copywriting which I do for a number of different clients now, which basically sprouted from being a Content Designer & subsequent manager.
So yeah, Habbox has literally changed everything about my life's plan, as well as making some really good friends who helped me through some extremely tough times in real life. It's also helped me learn to cope with certain types of people and grow a bit of a thicker skin, as I used to let everything get to me. I'm much better now. I swear.
I used to feel quite awkward about talking about Habbox, but I do speak about it now, because I've got a lot to be proud of during my time here. Anyone who has put time and effort in here shouldn't feel ashamed about saying it on their CV or in interviews, work is work, no matter where for. You can make almost anything relevant in some way, and you can always say a "popular childrens' forum and website" if you don't want to elaborate that much. I've named Habbox in my last two interviews however, even provided my best Habbox graphics (including the badges I designed which are on the Habbo client, used by Sulake) because it just shows you what you can do.
It's emotionally draining at times and I wish I didn't put so much time & effort in @Yupt; keeps telling me off for working too hard :() but I am super proud and happy about what I've managed to do and who I've become because of it.
yah same, neither habbo nor habbox benefit me but they aren't detrimental either
I guess playing habbo has taught me to type without looking at the keyboard (something people seem amazed at in public lol)
people have to accept the internet is just the internet and not get absorbed into what happens and what people say to you on habbox or habbo. I guess its difficult for some people to differentiate between the two but it's really simple; if people are being rude then close the window and fly away to real life. the internet, including habbo is a vicious place sometimes
I think it has definitely benefited me in a number of ways. I have also made some great friends who I hope I never lose contact with
It didn't ruin my life whatsoever. I have made friends on here and djed for my friends as well. I also keep giving support to the department I am in(HabboxLive). I had my ups and downs while being here but still enjoyed it :).
