He already has an N router available so why would he do that? :P
Well, after Be performing "network maintenence", my speed is now constantly around this:

huzzah. and I sync at 21meg
Lucky sod. Our phone line was installed in prehistoric times, so although we have the potential to sync at 18Mbps with our distance from the exchange and line attenuation we only get between 12-15.5Mbps depending on the mood of the line. It's currently Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,287 / 12,784 which is strange as it usually syncs at around 14-15 in the morning and then randomly decides to disconnect sometime late afternoon and syncs back at around 12-13 on reconnection.

I tweaked my uTorrent and now I get really good speeds around 600kb-1mb
Is your router plugged into the test socket?
Virgin Media users will get the best results from the London server. Just a bit of info for you there.

Just to follow this up Nick,

Oh, unlucky :(
What does the test socket do?
This is a bit odd, we pay for 8MB and our line is meant to be able to handle 6MB

After a phone call with o2 about my speed they are finally doing something :P gone from 3-4Mb/s to 5Mb/s
LMAO 1Mb/s difference! Wahey? LOL
Well its true.
Getting at least 10MB Virgin in soon though when we change packages.
I tried using Speed.io as a second source, but the given results are way screwed. The Speed.io FAQs imply that it will only work with connections up to 50 mb/s... and there isn't much information elsewhere on the site because it's a bit... bare. Can anyone verify this is indeed the case? :eusa_thin
I've only just gone through the whole thread, so sorry for stealing your thunder. "The pleasures of staying in education."
