Loved the theme tune, didn't like the new episode very much. Although that being said I wasn't a fan of 10 and 11's first episodes either.

I'm sure the bbc created it and the guy just helped they would want it to look as brilliant as possible. It's good I just think it would be good to have a mixture of the time and space but the time thing takes more screentime

A children show? I think you'll need to keep watching. Moffat wants the doctor to be a lot more mature as he found the comedy elements 11 had got a bit too stupid and childish. Although nothing compares to rtd's period
I think he kinda has a point. When I was younger, Doctor Who was absolutely thrilling. I remember being too scared to sleep after watching The Satan Pit! That just doesn't happen anymore. It's disappointing 'cause I'm past the age where I no longer believe that it might really be true so it's just not as scary as it used to be. And being scared is half the fun IMO :'(
But that's not really Doctor Who's fault, it's just growing up.
Not this series.
The original plan was Gallifrey would of been back this series if Matt stayed one more year as The Doctor. So it was back before the new doctor. With it being Capaldis first they'll keep it simple with the whole Gate Keeper plot arc and the promised land.

I also miss the vortex style intros. I like the clocks its cool,
SPOILERS!!
Dam I was sure I'd read it wasn't gonna hang around like previous arcs. Maybe they'll leave us with a big game changer at the end and leave us on a cliff hanger. I just don't fancy another arc like the silence. The arcs are better than RTDs but they go on for so long they get lost and end up being anticlimactic for me
clara is so adorable
Quite a good episode. Another part with the heaven thing which seems to be where all the people that died at the hands of the doctor go.
Friend's reaction: I didn't like the episode
Me: Don't be a lasagna!
:D Loved the new episode it was brilliant!
I see into your soul Doctor. I see BEAUTY, I see DIVINITY, I see HATREEEED.
Wasn't my favourite episode but loved the fact that the dalek has said the doctor has so much hatred like a dalek
I personally dont enjoy watching it,i think so far its boring and confusing,i will be watching the next episode on the 6th september and i hope its more enjoyable.WHAT DO YOU THINK?I would like to no your thoughts :@
Thread merged by Derrener (Forum Moderator) as there is already a thread on this
watched ep1 and enjoyed it, couldn't get in to ep2 will try again later
prity much same here just cant get back in to the new season
There's already a post for series 8 http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=793241
I think it's great. I think there's a lot of the new doctor's character we've yet to see with him still finding his feet but we seen him disappointed that the dalek seen lots of hatred in him hinting about what we've heard, with the new doctor being dark.
The thing that a lot of people can't accept is this doctor isn't all over the place in the way Matt Smith was. He's a lot more serious. Notice how the new doctor pilots the tardis instead of running around mad he just goes and calmly flicks a switch. Its a completely different way but it works so well because of that.
I also don't get what's confusing about the new series?
now my favourite ever Dalek story! Such a fresh take on them!! Reminded me a lot of the episode "Dalek" but also had a very classic who vibe! Peter is amazing again more rounded! And is absolutely hilarious.
I loved last nights, was really good. Looking forward to the rest of them!
New trailer: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p025vnft
I like the start bit aha
Thought the ep was pretty good overall. Other than the set design. Goddamn the set design was crap.
Awful episode with an awful plot. The story has been done before by Matt smith with a robot human clone thig rather than a Dalek. Why are dales back again? Boring. What's next? Cyber man makes a comeback? Sigh.
I want to see new planets, new alien creations. Perhaps start borrowing from other shoes rather than recycling this old tripe. I get that it has been over 50 years and ideas may be thin on the ground but it's boring for those of us that have seen every episode before it. I don't want overarching themes or storylines that take 19 weeks to unfold, I just want to look at a funny lookin alien and see a new planet. Bring back the slitheen, they were cool. Or maybe adipose can make a comeback. Or, ya know, design a new alien fr once. Capaldi was bang on when he uttered "where have I seen this before, I'm missing something" in the opening episode. The thing you're missing pal is that dr who is full of boring recurring characters and alien design that has been used 40 times over. If I see another Dalek or cyber man or.... God forbid... Another bloody Ood, I'll slaughter my family and end it all. Next episode is Robin Hood ... Well THAT hasn't been done before now has it. Oh wait, only 12 billion times. Ffs. Kill me. R I p doctor who

Nothing wrong with using them if it's in a fairly original way. However, that episode was basically a mash up of the episode you were on about and Dalek back in Ecclestones series.
Personally, I'd love to a see a Cyberman episode when they bring back the older designs somehow.
I love Capaldi, I think he's fresh and exciting, but my god are the storylines themselves a complete let down. It's just not interesting, and it's all been done before. It's really letting the series down.
I feel like such an odd one. Whenever anyone dislikes an episode, I love it and when everyone loves one, generally I dislike it. No exception it seems this time.
I absolutely love the new series, only two episodes in and I feel like I'm obsessed the way I was back in 2005 when I was a crazy 12-year-old fan girl! I've watched the first two episodes three times each now!
So, I love Peter Capaldi, I love the way he moves, the way he speaks, the accent, the outfit, the way he brings forward the comedy. All I can say is I can't wait to see him get truly angry or upset; it'll be amazing!
Clara is really growing on me too. Never really liked her before, but much in the same way Amy did, she's really impressed me now that she's settled into the role. I like the way Jenna plays her and love her attitude. Not sure how I feel about Danny Pink yet, it's too soon to tell.
So, episode one. Automatically I liked it because of the Paternoster gang. Strax is just too funny with his battle-talk and misunderstandings. I also adored the development with Vastra and Jenny. And though the BBC defended that it was an 'oxygen transfer' I liked that it was an intimate moment and I was quite disappointed that people complained over something that is quite clearly just a story, not the BBC having a 'gay agenda.'
I wasn't thrilled by the whole dinosaur/droids storyline but I liked the things that were made possible because of that, like the Vastra/Jenny breathing thing. I hope we see more of them later in the series. But mainly I enjoyed the characterisation, especially for the Doctor. How he is struggling to remember past events, and the story behind 'choosing' his face is all very interesting and that's what made it a good episode for me more than the storyline. I don't really have an opinion on the Heaven stuff yet; again too soon to tell but I like the theories people are coming up with.
Episode two was much better in terms of storyline and I hope we see more of Rusty. Again great acting by Peter and Jenna, I'm really loving him as the Doctor; I can't express it enough. I love how witty he is, how he's 'mean' to Clara and how he doesn't seem to give a damn what he says to anyone, I think it's great. I've read a lot of comments all over saying that of the 4(/5) Doctors we've had since 2005 he has had the worst entry in that he didn't just slip into the role like the others did. Now, I've loved all of the Doctors since 2005, though Matt took me a while, and I think Capaldi has fallen into the role the best out of any of them (even compared to the wonderful Mr. Tennant!) For me it feels like he SHOULD be there and has always been there. I think he's great and I can't seem to grasp what it is that people don't like about him. I think he's amazing, I hope he sticks around for a long time. I think Peter and Jenna are a great on-screen partnership.
I agree Char. I enjoyed the past 2 eps (the trio definitely help). Clara seems more human, the Doctor is as good as ever and after s6 and 7, I tend to have low expectations of the plot just in case and I've been pleasantly surprised both times. I even think that so far it looks like they've gone back to RTD's method of story arc by just inserting references into the story here and there which helps build suspense but still rather simple rather than stretching things too far and making it so complicated.
I just want to see some new writers come in soon because lets face it, Moffat murdered Season 7 :l
I think Moffat is a much better writer in terms of Sci-Fi; his episodes seem more dark and mysterious. RTD was very fluffy and cute, but that's not to say I didn't enjoy his episodes :P
Not sure I'd call episodes like Journey's End fluffy and cute, but they're definitely not as dark as Moffat's writing :P
I agree Moffat is better at Sci-Fi and he was fantastic when he wasn't Head writer, but he went a bit mad once he was in charge! RTD's funny episodes broke up the seriousness a bit and made the scary episodes even scarier. Most episodes were supposed to be full-on terrifying in Season 7 so the audience just got too used to it and Doctor Who got boring.
Actually, that's not true. They tried to write some funnier episodes to break it up (Dinosaurs on a Spaceship, etc) but I don't really think they have anyone who can do that very well at the moment.
Journey's End was brilliant. But what I mean by fluffy is the whole 'Let's bring everyone back like one big happy family, then have a 10.2 to be with Rose, then marry off Martha and Mickey etc.' It's just a bit too cliched. In a way it makes the emotion feel less real, whereas Moffat does emotion brilliantly at just the perfect moments. Doomsday and Journey's End were the only RTD episodes to get me choked up or at least feel some sort of emotion, but so many of Moffat's have :P
I prefer the way Moffat mixes it up a bit.
I just realised something. Didn't the Daleks forget the Doctor in Asylum of the Daleks? Why can they remember him and, if I recall, instantly recognise him?
They couldn't. The Dalek thought he was an actual doctor, as in someone to fix him.
OK SO I'M JUST SAT HERE WATCHING THE GIRL WHO WAITED EP WHERE AMY GETS STUCK IN APPALACHIA TWO STREAMS FACITILITY AND LOOK WHAT THE GARDENS LOOK LIKE

i feel so sad for noticing this though
Yeah I'm a big Moffat fan but I think thats his problem - his stories tend to work well as standalone episodes e.g. the amazing Blink being one of my favourites and for a Christmas episode, a christmas carol is amazing and magic. But he goes a bit overboard and seems to plan a lot later on and then tries to force it to work - for example we learned in the Time of the Doctor that he saw the cracks when he opened his room in the God Complex but he addressed them as a person "I always knew it would be you" or something along those lines as if it was a person or as I'd always believed, the Tardis. It doesn't really fit it being the cracks.
The one thing I am glad is that Moffat brought a lot more SC-FI and actual time travel to doctor who with past and future versions of people being in episodes for example. He brought the magic and fun and cut down on the drama. The arcs weren't bad, and I like when you get a bit more information throughout the series rather than the RTD way of having to do it all in one or two episodes, he just needs to calm down at times. Also he seems to like re-using stuff but then I suppose its bound to happen. The angels aren't really that scary now.
To me Journey's End is one of the worst episodes to come out of both classic and new who and it's a prime example of my issue with RTD. The whole thing you mentioned about 10.2 just makes me cringe. Honesty it felt like RTD decided to give into the 10/rose shippers and give them a fairytale ending and it didn't suit doctor who. If it had came naturally and felt right then fair enough but it felt so forced. I also didn't like the way Donna destroyed the Daleks, pressing the press this if Daleks get out of control self destruction button cconvenientlyplaced on their own ship. However I appear to be one of the few who really liked how Donna ended. People got disappointed when RTD didn't actually deliver a death like he planned but to me he actually did. The Donna we had originally met, the very closed minded, chav like person we saw grow and become a lot better in many ways suddenly was changed back to her old self with the memories of what she had achieved taken away and to me that was a great way to in a sense kill of a character.
While Chippiewill is right that the Dalek wanted an actual doctor not "the doctor", the daleks actually remember the doctor. In Time of the Doctor the Daleks took all the information about the doctor from the Papal Mainframe thus restoring their memories of the doctor or at least a large amount of them. They certainly know who he is
It just seemed so stupid to have 10.2 with Rose. I loved David and Billie's on screen partnership but I wouldn't have shipped them... And you know, does she just pick up with 10.2 where she left off with 10 two years before? How does that even work? :P Awkward!
I quite liked Donna; a lot of people didn't because she brought too much of her own comedy to it, but I liked having someone different. But I agree, the very convenient Dalek self destruct buttons was a bit ridiculous; makes it all a bit too easy...
The thing is a friend of mine wasn't looking forward to her reappearing after recently going through all of new who, well a year ago. I suppose I myself wasn't either but we both agreed that she brought something different than the past two assistants. With Rose and Martha they'd both been emotionally involved in the doctor and so it was such a fresh of breath air to get an assistant who just wanted to be best friends with the doctor and nothing more.
And New Who seems to be full of cheap endings. I much prefer Moffat over RTD but there tends to be a lot of the power of love and/or remember or at least there has been in the previous series, no sign of it so far so fingers crossed. I'm hoping that Capaldi's doctor is resourceful.
