Christ no. Metro on a desktop is a ridiculous idea.
Thought I would post in this thread again seeing as it is the 26th October which does mean it is the official launch day of Windows 8!
Anyway, you can actually upgrade to Windows 8 for £25 which is on a limited offer that ends on 31st January 2013. You can see more information about that by going to:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/w..._Home_FPP_Null
Note: If you want to go and buy it now and the page says "The new Windows...coming soon" which is probably due to the fact it's still the 25th in the USA then you can download the "Upgrade Advisor" by going to: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=262205 and this will then let you buy it instead of waiting.
Upgraded both PC and laptop and loving it. @xxMATTGxx;
It's a bit annoying the cost for if you want it shipped is £49.99. Download speeds maybe improving but not that much :P But for that price it is really tempting... Is 8 any good on a media PC?
It's Essex, the only reason for the internet there is porn and beauty tips :( The Metro interface looks like it could work for computers attached to a TV. It's tempting to get it and then tell you what it's like.
Forgot about the DVD problem... Haven't heard anything about it though :/ Completely agree about Metro, the tiles seem like they could work well in that environment.
Although saying that most people probably used other programs such as VLC. If people really wanted "Windows Media Center" then they can get it for free via a limited time offer:
