We discussed this with our class today, and stuff, found out that there really isnt rock solid evidence of global warming causing the world to end, only some sort of climate warming which wont affect too much.. Then we were forced to conclude that it will end by some sort of war between countrys..

Also, it will almost certainly be when the sun eventaly swallows the earth as it becomes a red giant. I say almost certainly as theres isnt a whole lot capable of actualy destroying the world entirely, and what is, is very unlikley.

Global warming will not destroy the world. Flooding? Ice age babes, ice age. The world will freeze over. I can't remember specifically but rising heat causes the ice caps to melt but because the ice caps melt, the temperature will cool for some reason I have forgotten. Possibly resulting in a second known Ice Age. But then again, It could be ********, I dunno.

The red giant phase is brought about by the fact the suns own mass is no longer hevey enough to cause sufficant gravety to keep the sun at its present size while being pussed out by the fusion raction takeing place in its innards, the sun is constantly burning its fuel, at an almost constant rate, the weight of the sun currently keeps the reaction in check holding the sun at an almost constant size, over time the gravitaional pull from the sun will lessen, our orbit may grow larger, but we will not nessarly be flung of in to space, instead we will take an orbit much like most comets in an increasiengly eliptical form, the sun when going in to a red giaint will likely increase in size around a 100 times. The sun currenly has a diamiter of around 1,390,000km, when it gos super nova that will be more like 139,000,000, earth is 149,600,000 km away from the sun in its present orbit, with a more elliptical orbit, the planet will come closer at some points to the sun than in its present orbit, the change will aslo increase the rate earth is sucked towards the sun. It seems logical to me to assume it wouldn't take that long for the orbit to deterate and the sun to simply be swallowed up before the sun finaly burns up and collapses in to a white drawf "/Quote:
