17 April 2007 - Wilderness Ditch

Up at the border to the Wilderness you will notice a small change this week. Far too easily have people mistakenly entered the dangerous lands of the north and so, with spades-united, a ditch has been dug!
You will now find that to enter and exit the wilderness you have to hop over a small ditch (no Agility level required). There's a safe zone just north of the ditch, so you needn't worry about getting over the ditch quickly.
Careful you don't trip!
In other news...
Easter has come and gone, and with it the Easter Bunny has gone back to his mysterious home to prepare for next year's (hopefully) mishap-free chocolate festival. As a result, we've taken down the Easter Event. Don't worry if you missed out on it, there will be another holiday event for Halloween!

Teleporting



Up to level 30 Wilderness, an amulet of glory may be used, and a ring of life will save you if activated. Other forms of teleportation can only be used in level 20 Wilderness or below. The only exception to this is the use of levers or any form of natural teleports found in the Wilderness. They can be used throughout all levels and areas of the Wilderness. Please note that the ring of life has certain conditions for use; it will not always teleport you away from battle if you're outmatched in a fight. If you go to under 10% of your health, it will save you and teleport you. If a final hit on your character is greater than 10% of your health, you'll die as normal.

Some mages will use a spell known as 'Teleblock', which will prevent you from teleporting for five minutes. This covers all forms of teleporting mentioned above including other methods such as teleport levers.

You can probably still do the Jojo lure - drop 10k and noob will be like omg 1 mill.

How did that ruin edge pkin though? I'm still confused about this ditch thing :S

this ditch is quite pethetic really.. it slows me down runecrafting about 3 or 4 seconds in total.. i no it doesnt sound alot but it does make a big difference.. i think you should be able to put a plank across it so you can run across still and click further than the ditch.

Make's my 'AHHH SOmEONE MY LEVEL IS PwNING ME!!!' runs slower... so it'll probably be my death ;[

noobs, who shouldnt be members :( i think they should make it just on free worlds, 40% of players on f2p are new players?? and another 20% still dont relise that they can lose there items in the wild. compared to members where probabaly 10% of players dont no what the wild is. :eusa_wall

Loads do. Even if they forced you to type "Jumping over this ditch may end up in me losing my items and dying" they probably will to jump it and make a quick trade probably ending up in them dying.

They didn't. There is still a safe zone north of the ditch so you can still run away from a fight.

Yeah, it's very anoying.

There are still ways to get people over the ditch and into the wild, like telling them to trade you and stuff like that.

yea rcing with the abyss has got alot slower, someone should message them about having an option or something maybe? or certain worlds not to have the ditch?

This Update has made Pking in wild 1-3 more annoying as if you are getting owned and u want to run if u click on the rong side of ditch then you either dont move at all or you character starts doing a ****zy run about the wild.
Plus it has spread out where people PK outside varrok.
I wish they had just put that new warning sign,not some stupid ditch that doesnt really make much difference if some noob gets lured.

i hate it!

there is only about 3 squares of level one, if your poisoned and on low hp you cant get to bank quickly and it looks ugly

I quit runescape about 1-2 months ago, got bored but this sounds like a good idea. Too many noobs wandering into the wildy not noticing what there gettin into :P
