£100 million mosque

There is going to be a £100 million mosque built, there is a petition to abolish plans for it, I have signed it becuase I think its a total waste of tax payers money....

if we wanted to build a £100 million church, then the muslims and whatnot would complain, but oh yes, if christians or w/e build one, it must be racist!!

I honestly don't see the point. Isn't religion not about money or possesions but the faith? And isn't there already thousands of mosques?

Yes i think it should be scrapped. I mean there was a Sikh Gurdwara in London, with a Golden top and underground car park, but they talk a loan from National building society n are gradually paying it back.

Like there throwing £100 million away basicaly :\ That could go to much better uses... Like parks, hospitals, education... makeing the uk a better place. They should still build mosques in places there arent, just cheaper ones ;p and not just mosques, all kinds of religious temples

Yeah, but I think the gov shouldent be wasting there money on it really. There is plenty of them, and if someone wants one so bad they could just gather funds from other things and the local muslim community instead of taking our money, and it is our money because thats why we [Well our parents] and relitivies pay taxes... I'd like to pay taxes knowing that its going to make a difference to this country, not to be wasted on a £100 million mosque.

yes i agree, the 100mill mosque is a waste, and i also agree that it should be paid on more important things ie. education and tbh i agree with basically everything u sed, so we r saying the same thing here, just in a diff way :P

they could build hundreds of mosques for £100 million tbh. so silly just building one for that much.

Yeah, but to be honest I think £100 million, is a waste of money for any religious place of worship, because its just loads of people that belive in something that might or might not exist, I wouldent be sure about muslims that come over here but Im quite sure that If you asked a Christian would they like £100 million of tax payers money to go on a church Im sure atleast 70-80% atleast would say no.

Yet again Labour are forgetting this is BRITAIN not India, their governments should give us funding if they want mosques built and we can spend out money on things which benefit the whole population such as pensions which are collapsing.

You dont have to generalise at all, u cannot say a certain religion is bad or good, neither can u say it about a race,sex or any other type of group. also they think of many ppl, atleast without them i probaly would not even be in a home, i'd be on the streets because well... i dont exactly wanna say, tbh tho from other "debates" ive seen with u i cant argue as u'll just stick by wot u think

Islam is mainly in the Middle East, North Africa, South Europe and some of Australasia. There is no need for any religious temple, you can pray at home. Or they could use the same church, Christians just choose to sit on benches and Muslims choose to use rugs.

anyway, i'm muslim, and i think that's abit too costy to just build one mosque. the money could be used for alot of other uses, they can simply build a cheaper mosque. but comments like 'build a 100 million church instead' are abit pointless. isn't that the same?

man, over here in singapore, if the government wanted to build a church, a mosque, a buddist or hindu temple, nobody really complains, because we have something called racial harmony over here. we have like, mosques, churches & temples side by side to each other, which is something you rarely see.

That is just a waste. A place of worship does not need to be grand. Yes Singapore has racial harmony. The people of Singapore have learnt well, after the racial riots in the 20th Century. We all live in harmony :DD
