Well you need a shield to learn the shield attack and one of the other special moves, but you don't HAVE to learn them anyway. Unless there are some monsters or bosses that can only be killed by the shield attack. I dunno... :P

no pmsl, im rescueing that zora person, that stupid goron mines would never save so i had to keep doing it over n over til i got to the boss coz sometimes i couldnt play that much =/
If you save in the middle of a dungeon and turn off the game, when you go back to play it again you'll be at the beginning of the dungeon. Although your progress won't be deleted. You'll still have all the items you got and the doors you unlocked. Just need to run back to where you were. Rescuing the Zora? You mean that prince kid zora dude? Have you rode across hyrule field with them two people yet... not trying to give any of the game away. :P If not, you're in for a treat. That part of the game was awesome.

Oh, you're more far behind than I thought. :P That battle with the hog man rocked! If you don't attack him other hog dudes keep coming so I just started slashing them up for ages. :P The ride across hyrule field though... woah!
