Meh, from what I've heard, modded kernals are buggy, especially considering different types of hardware you can use. The reason Macs just work is because they are built with the OS in mind. They all use the same hardware, and the OS is built to work hand in hand with the hardware.Quote:

Microsoft have had touch screen computers around for years now. I think it was 2001 or 2002 that all tourist boards in Scotland got touch screen XP computers. Most are still in place however a lot are being replaced with normal XP machines.
I still personally dislike touch screen on a large scale though as there is no real need for it. Things like phones and mobile devices I can see why as space is limited. However looking at the MB Air you can cleary see that you can get full sized keyboard and controls in a very small machine now.

You're comparison was flawed, it didn't list model numbers, it was biased, it was basically a mess.
Have you not realised that Apple are a high quality brand? PCs don't come close in terms of design, reliability or useage. If you ran an iMac which cost the same as a PC side by side doing the same things the iMac would out run it easily. Even switching an iMac on is a hell of a lot faster than any Windows machine.Quote:

The iMac doesn't need the high end specifications, you're correct. However for what you're paying, you should be able to get more.
The PB also has free shipping.
Quite honestly I wouldn't lose much sleep over the additional 180GB, 320GB is sufficient. I would take the extra GB of ram, over the HDD.
Windows doesn't need the Quad core. I'm running Vista Ultimate on this Duo Core, and it's extremely fast. A great deal of users still use XP, and, the requirements for XP are extremely low. I've ran XP on a 500Mhz processor with 128mb of ram, and I used messenger, Firefox, Habbo and even the occasional Flight Simulator. Before the quad core was out for the consumer, we got along just fine with Windows ;).
OS X may have a good graphical interface, but I find that the preformance compared to Windows isn't as good. However, if there was abit more OSX software support I wouldn't hezitate to switch.
The design of the iMac is nice, yes. Though not worth the extra money in my opinion.
For freeware software for the PC (these are all quite good) Paint.Net, Movie Maker, Netscape composer.
No, the price of the iMac remains higher than the PC, the lack of RAM in the iMac must be considered, the 20" screen is included, you can easily swap that for a nice 24" if desired. As for upgrading the hard drive, you can keep the current hard drive in, and add another one for next to nothing! The standard Vista OneCare is included, also third-party antivirus is included too.
I cba replying to all that tbh but Mac's do not get viruses, it had been proven, they are based on the UNIX foundation. I don't understand much of it, but they cannot get viruses. All the crap about market share is pure bull, I'm sure if they could someone would make a virus for OS X now, just because of the glory of being the first person to make a OS X virus.

Well put it this way, with a Mac you pay for what you get. Even the box it comes in costs around £40 - £60 to be made. Nothing Apple make is made or sells for cheap. Unlike places such as Dell and IBM where they use cheap plastics and put barely anything into design :)
