PLEASE BE AWARE OF BRUSHES. Logos are the only decent things there, brushes.
I think your work is quite good acually, Josh.
Every single piece but 1-2.
Everybody has their tastes/opinions, JME likes your style, understandable. I however do not. You need to get on some websites for inspiration, stop using brushes and create your own. Also lower the drop shadow on almost everything.
I love how if you compliment someone these days you apparently have your tongue up their ****? hmmmm :|
Near enough everything has a sort of vector-styled brush sprawled across it and to be honest it isn't always pretty. You've pulled some of the designs off, but others just look really poor quality. Experimenting more may be the trick.
Hmm no offence but there are.. ALOT of bruses in there...
Ofcourse the typographic skill is still yours but still...
It's just my opinion I guesse
(because I've set myself the rule never ever to use brushes or premade things for that mather)
Not rubbing in but see how not everybody agrees with you now josh? I admit if you cut down on the brushes and silly colours your designs could be okay.
I used to use brushes all the time in old days...
But one day I thought:
People just take a brush *click, click, click*, type a word over it or w.e & call it "their" design...
Like what the hell, the brushes were made by someone else, so I decided that day never ever to use anything premade, now I make everything myself, which is a good experiance to be honest, every time you learn some new method to do something and it's more fun to think you made it :)
(this wasn't aimed at you btw, just in general ;) )
He doesnt just use brushes but even if he did whats it to you? Your average user isnt going to say 'This uses brushes Im not using this site'. Aslong as its asthetically pleasing and works well whats the problem?
Like I said, the problem is I sometimes see people ex. even on deviantart who put like 4 brushes into eachother, a word with effects over it, and call it THEIR design (with no credit to brush makers what so ever)
That would be the problem, people calling it their own, without creditting the brush-designers.
This is my view on this though...
Lucas, just piss off, get out of this thread.
I like some of your work :)
& lol at my book thread, what did you say i didnt get time to read it =[
Some of it is quite good, just try not to overuse brushes, the less brushes, the better.
Nice work (:
